To put it lightly, the past couple months have been a trying time for everybody. From the mania of quarantine to the civil and political unrest to the pandemic itself, we’re all on edge. Some more than others. Some people’s lives have been put on hold, while others work excessive overtime trying to keep up and provide the services we all depend on.  We’re all trying to cope in our own ways and I will happily admit that I’ve struggled to find my own path through it all. There is so much information and every day seems so full, it’s as if one quarantine day is really a week of pre-quarantin ..read more

Strap in for the Feels with Duke Dumont and Ry X on ‘Let Me Go’
ElectroJams | Electronic Dance Music Blog

Just a heads up before you hit play on ‘Let Me Go,’ it doesn’t sound like Duke Dumont. That’s not a bad thing, in fact it’s far from it, but it’s a bit of a shake-up for the first minute and a half plus. Initially, it’s just Ry X‘s soft crooning accompanying a simple, dramatic hammering of chords on a piano. Just about the time when you’re wondering where the Duke Dumont part of the collaboration is, a creeping build emerges from the depths. Comprised of another piano line and synths, then adding a couple sections of strings, the build continues well past the halfway point of the song ..read more

Gorgon City Teams With DRAMA on Sublime New Track ‘Nobody’

Gorgon City has a knack for taking what could easily be a long, sad, and slow ballad and shifting it into a dance anthem that only hurts a little. But in a good way.  They’ve accomplished exactly that in their brand new collaboration with Chicago-based duo DRAMA, ‘Nobody,’ out today on Astralwerks.  The lyrics focus on a lover attempting to hold their relationship together, to prevent going from having somebody to having nobody. That’s kind of a bummer, isn’t it? And yet, in the heart of all of the pleading, I can’t help but kick the chair out from under myself and start dancing.  Sur ..read more

Bicep Lead to a Peaceful Place on Atlas

These are trying times with wave upon wave of dismal news, so it was nice to finally see a ray of sun through the murk courtesy of Bicep. In their newest production, ‘Atlas,’ the boys take a step back to survey the wild past couple of years. From the release of their self-titled debut album in 2017 to the world tours that followed and their landmark appearances at Printworks, there’s a lot to cover. For them, this was a pleasant walk through a series of unreal accomplishments. But in the time from producing the song until it’s release, the world turned upside down. In their own words ..read more

I don’t know about you, but I certainly self-medicate with music, and it appears Duke Dumont is hip to it. ‘Therapy’ is everything I love about House music, cranked to eleven. The soulful vocals, inspirational lyrics, addictive hooks, and a driving rhythm buoy me in a world that seems hell-bent on sinking everyone. But don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself and try not to stare too hard at the visualizer. Or do, it is Friday after all. You can also find ‘Therapy’ on your favorite streaming service here. Star-Kid, as the name sounds the electro music this duo produce has undoubtably introduced more galactic enhanced sweeps and a bass style that brings in elements of doom and hope right from the start. But, with tracks ‘Fog’ and further on with ‘Flooded’ they bring a calmness to the experience to there new project Star-kid Undefined Subspecies then the conventional electro sound tends to have, apart from the great use of hi frequency layers, the album will take a sudden turn early on as your journey from progressive energy to a state of unease and unsettling feeling starts to come into view ..read more
