It’s safe to say that April 2024 has been polarized by one news piece and one release. The big news was, of course, the unveiling of Symmetry’s lineup. For those of you who’re not aware yet, Symmetry Music & Arts Festival is set to be the event of the year when it comes to wave. Presented by the legendary vibe.digital team together with production company Lucid Journeys, this two-day festival will turn Iowa into the epicenter of the scene on the 13th and 14th of September.  Plastician, brothel. , barnacle boi, Deadcrow, REMNANT.exe, Gladkill are just some of the wave heroes who will p ..read more

Halogenix Reveals ‘Passions’ With Debut Album

Writing about music can be a befuddling task sometimes. Every once in a while, an album comes along for which it’s unimaginably difficult to find the right words to adequately treat it with the reverence it deserves. For me, Halogenix’s Passions is one of those albums. As a longtime fan of Halogenix, I was ecstatic when he announced Passions to be released on his label Gemini Gemini earlier in February of this year, along with the first single ‘I Told Ya.’ This one song, with its beautifully atmospheric synths and R&B-inspired vocals, captures the essence of what Passions is all about. PREMIERE: Low Poly Disrupts All Senses Of Reality With ‘The Phosphorus Scene’

With time and space at his fingertips, Low Poly‘s sporadic and colorful style has created a powerful and blissful road of success. Carving a healthy and righteous gateway for bass music as a whole. Separating himself from the rest with stellar sound design and gorgeous arrangements. There’s no telling where he’ll steer next due to the unpredictable and deep nature of his works. There’s always something refreshing to hear when diving through his discography. So much passion and heart are put into these works. It’s simply inspiring to hear. From releases with Jadū Dala, mau5trap, SPACE YACHT, an ..read more

Visages Display Production Mastery In ‘Dol Guldur’ EP
FUXWITHIT | Hip-Hop & Electronic Music Blog

Visage is the French word for face, with visages being its plural form. Following Visages over the last couple of years has shown that this is the perfect name for the quartet. Multifaceted productions run through the veins of the French artists, with each new single, remix or project showcasing a new skill under the broad umbrella of bass music. Whether it’s a deep dubstep cut laced with grime-leaning vocals, or a soothing liquid drum and bass groove, Visages consistently create crisp and catchy tunes. Last year, I had the extreme pleasure of catching a Visages live set, where they played gri ..read more

Jireh Stands Tall

We are supposed to be invincible on our birthdays. I believe, childishly, that we become Starmen who are impervious to harm for 24 hours. Yet, on the evening of March 15, 2023, high off of a shit ton of shrooms, Jireh is alone. No family or friends compiled in his home, lilting “happy birthday” off-key as his full moon eyes glint at the light atop the iridescent colored clay molded into numbers, as everyone asks how big he’s grown. Instead, it’s mid-March in Baton Rouge, unnaturally cold and soundless. His back door is open, and spilling beside it lays Jireh, whose flesh dissolved beneath him ..read more

Guest Mix + Interview- Hypergeneration
FUXWITHIT | Hip-Hop & Electronic Music Blog

Bursting onto our radar with a barrage of bizarre and banging releases on Quality Goods Records, Hypergeneration has captivated our attention with a sound that fuses hyperpop, hard-hitting trap, and an underlying social commentary on our addiction to technology and social media. The dichotomy between the internet-inspired sound and the critique of our need for constant over-stimulation creates an intriguing juxtaposition that’s thought-provoking and deeply entertaining. If you’re a fan of artists like SOPHIE, umru, TNGHT, and UZ, and you haven’t given the relatively unknown artist a listen, th ..read more

Why We Should Pay Attention To The Virtuos Casualness Of Wave’s Wardubs
FUXWITHIT | Hip-Hop & Electronic Music Blog

Rooted in the reggae and dancehall culture, war dubs have spread and been interpreted by many later movements, the most famous of which is certainly the Grime scene. While the format was originally relegated to broadcasting via (pirate) radios and DVDs, war dubs have always kept up with technology, constantly evolving as illustrated by this excellent article on Crack magazine. As it happened to music consumption with the spread of streaming platforms, the web and the digital world have levelled the barriers allowing everyone to remix and create a version adapted to the times and their needs.
