The DSTV Content Creator Awards have been running for three years and I am proud to say I’ve been a nominee each year. For the past two years there were no gaming specific categories. I was nominated in Podcast of the year 2022 for Tech Girl Talks and in the Sports Fan category in 2023 for my work in esports. This year the awards have a Gaming Creator of the year award and I’ve been nominated. The annual awards event […] The post Tech Girl nominated for the DSTV Content Creator Awards for the third year in a row appeared first on Tech Girl ..read more

Tech Girl

Anyone dating or married or related to a gamer knows the struggle: trying to find them the perfect gift is borderline impossible. They’re usually very particular about what they want and have all the gear they could ever need. Or so I thought. I recently gifted the gamer in my life the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro Controller and scored ALL the brownie points. The controller I got is suited to Playstation 5 but you can get the Xbox option and […] The post The perfect gaming gift doesn’t exist…. NOT TRUE appeared first on Tech Girl ..read more

So I’m making it a little easier for you and showcasing the perfect gaming monitor for someone who jumps between PC and console.. and who is looking for a great “starting” point as a new gamer OR someone moving from their TV screen to a monitor for the first time. It’s the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS […] The post The ideal gaming monitor for Noobs! appeared first on Tech Girl ..read more

Hosting ESL Challenger Jönköping 2024

I like to do these little recaps of the events I’ve recently worked. They end up being a way for me to go back and examine what I thought as well as how to improve. For me, any esports broadcast I work on is about the players and the event, not me. So this is a chance to self reflect and be a bit more “me” focused. I had the chance to be the desk host for ESL Challenger Jönköping […] The post Hosting ESL Challenger Jönköping 2024 appeared first on Tech Girl ..read more

Why I travel with the Oclean X Ultra
Tech Girl

I recently did a reel featuring some of my go to travel accessories which I include whenever I pack for a big trip. A recent addition to that list was the Oclean X Ultra. I tend not to travel with electric toothbrushes because they’re just one more thing I need to charge. But the Oclean X Ultra has changed my mind somewhat. Here’s the short form video I made to give you some insight into what I tend to pack: The Oclean X Ultra toothbrush offers a range of benefits. One of its primary advantages is its powerful sonic cleaning technology, which delivers up to 40,000 vibrations per minute, ensu ..read more

Do you need a portable router?

Do you need a portable router? I didn’t think I did… until ASUS asked me to do some content around the portable router they offer. I have a content agreement with ASUS specifically around their PC components, monitors and routers. They always ask me to try the item first, get my thoughts and then we determine if I’m open to creating the content. Even with my misgivings about the router, I agreed to take it on my most recent work trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the router and now think everyone who spends a lot of time on public Wi-Fi should consider one. I know it probably seems like an ..read more

Where are South African gamers? Where do you find them? How do you reach out to them? It’s a question which gets asked time and time again. There are a host of passionate gamers around the country looking to find like minded individuals to connect and play with. So where the hell are they? A few months ago I decided to make it my business to put together an exhaustive list of the various discords, social media platforms and whatsapp groups for various game titles around South Africa. I put them together in a helpful Red Bull article which gave a little bit of background in to each game, how to ..read more

Tech Girl

After years of sitting in marketing meetings and chatting to South African brand representatives, marketing agencies, sports management companies and marketing managers – I’ve heard the same questions asked time and time again. I’ve also seen the same mistakes made time and time again. With this in mind I decided to create a series of podcast episodes to discuss the business of gaming and esports in South Africa. I found a host of industry veterans and experts to share the knowledge and insight on topics that come up time and again. From how to select a gaming specialist consultancy to the bes ..read more

The PlayStation Portal: It’s nice, but you shouldn’t buy it

I feel like a stuck record at this point because I always go on about how much I travel…. because I do travel, a lot! With the amount of time I spend in airport lounges and hotel rooms, I’m always looking for the next best way to have my games with me. When the PlayStation Portal first got announced, before I’d read the bits about what it could do I got hella excited. I believed this would be the replacement to my trusty Nintendo Switch and I’d be able to stop saving for an ASUS ROG Ally or Steamdeck… Turns out, I was wrong. Here’s my thoughts on the PlayStation Portal. Because the internet ha ..read more

Desk hosting ESL Impact Dallas 2024

ESL Impact Dallas 2024 took place towards the end of May 2024. It was the culmination of Season 5 of the global Counter-Strike women’s league hosted by ESL. I was invited to desk host the finals. I’d be working from the ESL Stockholm studios with the analysts and commentators, while the teams would be on site at Dreamhack Dallas to compete on LAN. Despite some of the HLTV forums and reddit thinking I’m a staple in the Impact lineup – I’ve actually only worked two ESL Impact events: the ESL Impact Season 4 finals and ESL Impact Valencia in 2022.
