Hi everyone so i found out i would be based in charlotte and i’m getting really nervous after seeing the reviews so far lol. All i’m reading is that it’s clique-ish, boring, chaotic airport, etc. Is there anyone that has enjoyed their time there or has any positives? If it was negative, what made it so bad? I’m in my 20s btw idk if age makes a difference in this experience too. submitted by /u/control_ur_self [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

United Bidding Preferences

I’ve been reading the bidding procedures from both the United and AA pdf on reserve and confused. So I think I get the AA day before bidding on reserve process but not sure about United. AA you must click and stalk your choice super fast and have the highest seniority and least amount of clicks if someone else wants it. I see all the preferences at UA that you can choose such as layovers, aircraft, report time, ect… are these preferences a standing or generic bid that is only done once a month when you first bid for your schedule or can you bid for your reserve trips the day before your reser ..read more

*Needing tips* for balancing during safety demo's & turbulence?

Hello all Junior FA here at a regional airline. I fly on the CRJ900 & ERJ 170/175. We do our safety demos during taxi and the CRJ900s especially dont tend to be the smoothest when taxing. As a result when im doing my demos I sometimes loose balance or fumble from the turns and bouncing during taxi and some passengers have perceived this as me being nervous or inexperienced. Same with trying to do service in choppy air, sometimes ive accidently spilt a small amount of drinks, or drop a utensil like the mixing sticks or sugar packets and passengers also perceive that as me being nervous. How long do you plan on staying a flight attendant?

Many years ago, I believe people would retire while doing this job; however, that does not seem to be as prevalent as it it once was. It seems airlines are now having a retention issue with new flight attendants either quitting or getting fired. Do you believe it's because this career is no longer as coveted as it used to be and people no longer see the point in continuing a career where they are under appreciated and disrespected? Speaking for myself, this job is no longer as fun and thrilling as it once was. It's actually starting to feel a bit mundane. These hotels are getting dirtier and ..read more

Is it normal to still be slow in the second month as a FA?

Hello everyone! So, I've been working as a flight attendant for about 2 months now. I fly short-haul at my company. On four-leg flights I tend to be slower. The thing that I struggle with the most is maintaining a fast pace when setting up the trolleys and stowing back everything from the service trolleys to their respective places after doing the service. But I mostly notice this on very short flights where you basically have to be fast to stow things back. Any advice to improve and get faster at the job? I love it and want to do it as efficiently as possible. submitted by /u/TheRealYouInsi ..read more

hello☺️ I am graduating soon from training soon. I’m definitely excited but also overwhelmed with how many decisions I need to make in such little time. i got my top base choice, but it’s far from home so I will be relocating. they give us such a short period of time to relocate, but I know that’s part of the gig. I honestly think I will get an apartment with girls from my class, sign a year long lease. but I feel like there’s barely any time to really think about/ do research. basically how did you all, especially those who relocated when younger, manage through the decision making at the en ..read more

I need help explaining the reality of our pay/hours we realistically contribute to someone who isn’t in the industry and is clueless lol

So I’ve recently been going back and forth with my parents about the reality of our pay (I’m reserve with United first year). When I said our minimum per month is 78, they basically acted shook because they have a mind set of “to really work hard is to work 40 hours a week” kind of thing. They think well just pick up more? Which I am (and still barely staying afloat mind you), but even so it’s like they basically have just written me off as if its a reflection of me not grinding enough or being lazy ect. They don’t understand the reality of how our hours work and I’ve struggled to break it do ..read more

AITAFA if I keep a list of FAs who were awful to work with?

At my airline, when you’re a line-holder you can only have a max of four people under your “do not fly” preference, and if they’re junior to you, your seniority falls to their level, so I only have one senior FA on it. However, on a recent trip, another crew member was like, “that takes too much energy!” and I was like, “I like to remember exactly why they made it on the list”. Keep in mind, I have like five people on it and I’ve never flown with them again. It’s not really mean-spirited, because I’m one of the ones who pushes back whenever another crew member is being a jerk just to be one ..read more

Do most airlines have base beef?

my airline is suffering from a lot of things, base beef is one of them I am wondering if more established airlines suffer from this as well. I find it ignorant to make generalizations about groups of people this way and don't support judging a whole base of people off of a few. submitted by /u/Rebluntzel [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
