Flora Willard – one of many success stories!   Flora Willard benefitted with the tailoring training that MOCP/KANYENYEVA MINISTRIES provided. She worked hard to perfect her work as was required. She also attended and graduated with a DFG certificate after receiving the skills to make different reusable sanitary pad components. With the recognition of Days for Girls International and the involvement with the First lady’s initiative Flora worked so hard putting in many hours to meet the assigned target. In the end she was paid generously for her hard work. With the money she received Flor ..read more

Education in Kanyenyeva, Malawi For many years Malawi Orphan Care Project has supported sending High School aged boys and girls to school. In Malawi, public school only goes through eighth grade so if a child doesn’t have a benefactor sending them on to High School their education ends at eighth grade. Education is the cornerstone of economic development. It is the key to ending the cycle of poverty in Malawi. Donations for education consistently send sixty-seven (67) children on to High School. These are all children who are connected to the Orphan Project, learning about Jesus and the Bible ..read more

Manna for Malawi 2020 will look different this year. The Johnny Holm Band was still willing, the volunteers were ready and eager, the orphans are still hungry, but finally, the decision to keep people safe convinced the event committee to cancel the concert and meal for this year. The amazing and spectacular Manna for Malawi Raffle will still be held and you can buy tickets within an hour of the drawing on August 23rd. The fantastic prizes include a 50 inch TCL Roku TV, a $400 Paddle Board, a kayak with paddle, a Ruttger’s golf package for two 18-hole rounds of golf and cash prizes of $100 ..read more

The Johnny Holm Band will still perform to raise money for Malawian orphans but lots of other things have changed about this year’s event. Manna for Malawi has been postponed until Sunday August 23 from 2-6pm. The regional band has been attracting audiences for nearly 40 years in the United States, primarily in the five-state area. Manna for Malawi will be held in Minnesota. Pastor Paul Mattson said he is pleased the event will still being held, for two reasons. “People really enjoyed the Johnny Holm Band last year, the music, the band’s interaction with the crowd. And we’ll still be able to ..read more

MALAWI ELECTIONS CRITICAL FOR COUNTRY’S FUTURE   In May of 2019, President Peter Mutharika was elected to serve a second 5-year team as president of Malawi. Mutharika was elected with 35% of the vote total. The next two closest rivals garnered over 50% between them. Malawi has used what is called a ‘first past the post’ process for the office of president, where the top vote recipient in a field receives the victory, even if they do not receive more than 50%. The election process was marred with problems, even though the international observers who were present stood behind it. Ta ..read more

The future of the children of Kanyenyeva is bright because of you. The children in this picture were not born when Kanyenyeva Ministries began 15 years ago but they are benefiting from what you have helped build. They are able to receive food and an education because of your donations and prayers. Kanyenyeva Ministries and Malawi Orphan Care Project pray that in the next 15 years Malawi will be able to rise out of its extreme poverty and be able to care for all of its citizens. Five years ago we wrote about the first 10 years of Kanyenyeva Ministries. You can read about that her ..read more

The Hungry Season 2020
Malawi Orphan Care Project

In Malawi, the Hungry Season of 2020 has been compounded by the current Coronovirus Pandemic. Most of the vulnerable children who are fed at the project are orphans. Being orphans, they live with families other than their parents and are usually a drain on already scarce resources. Most of the families in the Kanyenyeva area are subsistence farmers, growing only enough food for themselves and their family. It is a means of survival but does not produce income. Subsistence farmers are impacted greatly by variations in weather. In January, 2020, UN’s World Food Program warned about food insecuri ..read more
