  At NAB 2024, Shure launched its Motiv Mix software (a challenger to RØDE Connect covered in several articles) for macOS and Windows and a new flagship dynamic hybrid microphone (USB-C and XLR), the MV7+. The MV7+ is a successor to the MV7 (which I reviewed here) and includes many improvements, including USB-C connectivity, a somewhat longer included windscreen, improved touch-to-mute and additional DSP functions. New features for broadcast and for Virtual Production, including Unreal’s virtual camera app, Unreal VCam, on Android for the first time, are some of the highlights of the new update now available. Adobe’s only announcement at NAB this year was the tease for multiple AI-enhanced tools coming to Premiere Pro, namely features integrating OpenAI Sora, Runway Gen 2, and Pikalabs, as well as Firefly video. Unfortunately, we’re lacking specifics on aspects of the release date and details on effects for other Adobe Video & Motion apps, but we can gather some hints. A fast-aperture zoom lens covering a focal length range from ultra wide-angle 11mm to 20mm, Tamron’s first lens for Canon RF mount is only for APS-C mirrorless cameras. As ProVideo Coalition revealed, “users of Canon’s RF Mount cameras will have the option, starting next July, to buy Sigma lenses for their cameras as an alternative to Canon’s own lenses, starting with lenses for APS-C models.” Those who prefer Tamron must, apparently, wait a little longer, as the lens now announced by Tamron is planned to be released “within 2024”. The “war” has, apparently, ended and Sigma is, finally, announcing its first official lenses for the Canon RF Mount system… but only for APS-C. The first series of Sigma lenses for Canon RF Mount cameras will arrive in July 2024.  Sigma announced the upcoming launch of interchangeable lenses for Canon RF Mount system, which will allow, according to the company, “users to enjoy high performance, and high quality SIGMA lenses in native mount on their Canon RF Mount system.” It’s interesting to see that the whole press-release from Sigma does not mention that this first batch is only for APS ..read more
