As I write this I am aware of the gamut of feelings running through my body as our world changes in ways we couldn’t have anticipated. Day by day we are all processing new events and information; some of it shocking, some of it anticipated, and some of it life-changing. I have noticed waves of sadness, fear, grief, hope, despair, tiredness, edginess, sleepiness and insomnia just to name a few. For some of us our concentration span may have shrunk to the size of a peanut. We may it difficult to settle on a book, a movie or even finishing a work task. This can be a consequence of being hyper-vig ..read more

Say No! to yet another New Year Resolution. What if I were to suggest that you don’t, that’s right, don’t make a New Year Resolution for 2020? Why you might ask? If you make a resolution that comes from seeing something you are doing as a problem to be eliminated or a habit to be broken you are creating something new out of something old. You are seeking a solution from the space or energy that holds the problem in place. You are, in essence, working against yourself. Or to put it in other words; one part of you is trying to override another part of you. How has that been working out? Th ..read more

Writing to release anxiety & tension

These are my favourite journalling techniques for managing anxiety, tension or my busy mind. 1. Having a conversation with myself:  I write as if I am having a conversation with myself. This helps me get to know more about what’s going on. It’s easy. I ask myself a question and then I answer it. I write whatever comes up. It’s helpful to ask questions like: Who am I talking with? Why have you showed up today? “What do you need (from me)? What would you like me to know? Then go back and forth, just writing whatever comes without any judgement! It looks like a dialogue in a play with a new ..read more

Maybe you’ve dipped in and out of journal writing like one does dipping ones toes into water to test the temperature. Or maybe you’ve look at the water and long to dive right in but tell yourself “I can’t go there, it’s too cold, what about the current, I don’t know where it will take me….” You are not alone. There are many reasons why people don’t start or keep a journal – and it’s rarely because they don’t see the value. Rather, they listen to their ‘Journaling Fears’. Journalling fears are stories we tell ourselves about journaling that stop us from starting or maintaining a journaling ..read more

You will find yourself showing up better in every area of your life — every area! Without question, journaling has by far been the number one factor to everything I’ve done well in my life. I use it to help me make decisions, to listen within for wise advice, to sort through dilemmas, to come up with ideas, to vent, to express, to find all the aspects of myself that I don’t speak out loud. I use my journ ..read more
