So Ive been bored in class, and have planned and mapped out my whole schedule for the first month of so if the apocalypse ever happened. My partner has also taken interest, and we’ve devised a plan for if this ever happened how we would find each other and what to do. I’m using the walking dead zombies as a reference for the type of scenario. If I’m in school when it starts, I’ll head straight home, walking or running as using a car would end in a crash due to mass panic. If home, stay. I’d quickly tell my partner that the plans in action, as we both have hand crank radios, walkie talkies, an ..read more

At the end of the day, humans are social creatures. We'd generally prefer to keep our family, friends, neighbors, etc alive. In something like a zombie apocalypse, a weapon potentially goes a long way to keeping these people alive.
So I ask, what weapons (if any) do you posses/could afford to posses to arm others, and/or what would you arm them with after establishing some basic infrastructure (spears aren't that hard to make)? Do you take into account things like potential physical impairment or the like, or do you just assume everyone can handle it (someone who weighs 90lbs dripping wet pro ..read more

Currently trying to write a character who holds up in his house after his parents die and obsesses over a couple books about the union. He carries a modern firearm not a musket but the rest of his kit would be stolen from a museum and would be mint condition. Im mostly wondering how useful his clothing would be but the rest of standard marching kit would be useful to know also.

I think it's some form of electrical or mechanical engineering. The ability to replace and fix stuff like weapons, cars, and even forge your own ammo is very important. I think making your own ammo is the most important. If you go to a gun shop smd pick up a kit that will reload brass for you, go to a firework shop and grab the biggest ones and use the gun powder in them, then melt down fishing line sinkers (you can use a fire and a pan for this kind of metal) for lead and pour it into molds. Then, lock and load.

I would stay in a two story house without a basement, no deck, and a significantly large upper floor and I would mainly enter my house from a rope hanging out of a second story window. I would then put a slip and slide (with soap) on the stairs leading to the first floor and leave and board up all the lower floor windows then lock and board up the door. (The slip and slide is mainly a secondary protection to stop the zombies from getting upstairs) I would have all my supplies upstairs and I would live there with two other people. I would have a sniper lookout point out of one of the windows a ..read more

I saw an old bow I used to have when I was younger. Granted, it’s smaller may not work best with a full grown adult, but it may still be used effectively.
