Designer To Know: Sally LaPointe

A designer I’ve been keeping a keen eye on for a few years is New York based designer Sally LaPointe. As a northerner, Sally truly gets luxurious Italian knits and what a woman wants to wear when the temps dip low. What I really love is her edgy takes on fall and winter staples; a fur trimmed hoodie for example, that I can totally see myself wearing with my leather leggings and boots. Fall and winter believe it or not, is my favorite time for fashion and SL absolutely is a must have for me this season. Her furs and metallics have always caught my eye and the collections keep getting better as ..read more

Five Things We Love For September

1. Dr. Jackson’s Coconut Melt: I’ve been on the coconut oil train for a while, this not so secret beauty item is great for hydrating the skin. This month I’ve started using it as eye makeup remover and I am loving it, it works wonders on waterproof mascara! 2. Sarah’s Bag: I’m always looking for a fun statement clutch that can elevate a plain look. I love the VHS tape clutch I found at Kirna Zabete and it even comes with tape stickers to change up the title. Right now my title is Boogie Nights… although I’m sure that will change before the next family night! 3. Netflix Friend’s From Colle ..read more

Layering Dresses and Jeans for Fall
Erica Hanks

Usually when we think of layering dresses over jeans or pants, we think of a shorter dress. This fall, take that dress hemline longer and be a little more dramatic with it. This trend typically works best with a dress that be unbuttoned in front for dramatic silhouette volume. while the temps are warm, wear this look with a flat or sandal; when it gets cooler, throw on a bold ankle boot. Bralettes for the Summer
Erica Hanks

In the summer it’s just too hot to wear a bra. If anyone hasn’t noticed, the gates to hell lead to the South during the summer months. Bralettes are the cooler alternative to the traditional bra, and don’t have the underwire or padding that makes a bra hot. Even though you think a sports bra could do this trick, it’s not as pretty; a sports bra is thick, and then you’ll still be hot. Bralettes come in a variety of styles, from a minimalistic basic to lacy, bright and bold to nude and discreet. I love to wear mine with my tank tops to keep me cool during the hot summer months. It’s summer (if you couldn’t feel it by now), and that means changing up your beauty and skincare routine. We went straight to our favorite beauty expert, Michelle Daquioag of Barneys NY Downtown to give us the lowdown on what’s the latest and greatest, and how to look your best when the temps soar. Here are her faves, and we have to say we want to try them all: ZIIP The ZIIP is easily the one and done product for perfect skin; it tightens, lifts, and clears acne through electrical nano currents and multiple facial treatments controlled through an app on your phone. Celebrate America In Style

With July 4th next week, we will be saying Happy Birthday America right here in Charlotte this year with family and friends. Nerdy confession: I actually love this holiday! The fireworks, the outdoor cooking, and the red, white and blue theme all make me excited for summer and proud to be an American. I’ll be working a little bit on the 4th, so I’ve put together my outfit for my meetings and client pulls. As you probably know by now, I love mixing up my looks to be unexpected, versatile, and hi-low fashion. I’ve mixed in an old shirt from last year, my old JCrew blazer, my Fendi heels I picke ..read more

I’m always on the lookout for the next, new and interesting, designer for clients who want something different, but also want things off-the-radar. Borgo de Nor is the brain child of two, amazing female powerhouses, Carmen Borgonovo and Joana de Noroha. They separately have awesome track records in the fashion industry. And, now, they have come together to create an effortlessly chic line of eye-catching, easy bohemian dresses and pieces for summer. Many of the pieces are under $1,000. Additionally, I am always down to support female designers. And, I am even happier to support Latinas in fash ..read more

Sutton’s Birthday Style
Erica Hanks

I always remember events, not only by the people I’m surrounded by or the special occasion being celebrated, but specifically by what I was wearing. When I got engaged, my aunt and uncle threw my husband (fiancé at the time) and me the most amazing party. I knew before we even started planning what I was wearing. We couldn’t decide on the “theme.” So, we went off the one thing I knew was right, my dress. This is what inspired me to plan Sutton’s birthday party. I have waited my whole life to plan a first birthday party. And, to dress up my little girl. Although I love the smocked, sweet south ..read more
