So like 4 years ago I was a nanny for these two middle school girls for the summer- it was actually the best job ever haha. But one day I was on my period and we were just at home hanging out and I was DYING inside from my cramps and super nauseous. I went to text my boyfriend saying “Im literally about to throw up” and accidentally sent it to my DB!!!!! I didn’t even realize until I get a text back “everything okay?” And I was MORTIFIED lol I explained to him exactly what happened but like AH that was the worst! I wanna hear your stories if anyone else has ever done something like this haha ..read more

Anyone else hate working on Passover? Can’t bring my lunch inside. No coffee. Can’t do any building, art or crafty stuff with 4 kids for 2 weeks. Nothing but respect to the holiday, but it’s a pain to follow when it’s not your own. submitted by /u/Sunni-Days [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Feeling of dread before shift

I know this is going to sound bad but I just have to speak my mind currently - I’ve been nannying for a 1 year old about 5 months now, and I have started to get that dread feeling before every shift because I just want it to be over with before it’s even started. I am with NK for 5 hours, 40mins-1hour of that is their nap time and sometimes if they wake up before an hour I feel really annoyed and I don’t know why. I can’t put my finger on this feeling, we have a great bond but I feel trapped in a room all day with not much freedom, MB is quite protective and particular about things with him b ..read more

Having nanny parents who work from home, or being a nanny parent who primarily works at home, can be both rewarding and exhausting. Toddler Nap Time

I just started this nannying job with a toddler who just turned 2. Didn't really have experience working with toddlers beforehand. Everything's going great except nap time. His parents told me they're having trouble getting him to nap in his crib on his own. I give him a bottle, sing some songs and he passes out on me. He becomes so fussy if I try to put him in the crib and the last nanny had the same problem. Any help would be great Also is it okay if I fall asleep during his nap time. the room is dark, I'm sitting on a rocking chair with a baby in my lap. Its peak napping atmosphere. For th ..read more

I labeled this as no advice needed but if anyone wants to chime in on their NK that have also hurt themselves on your watch that would be great. The guilt over today is real! I watch 3 children, a 20 month old, 2 yo, & 4 yo and today was just one of those days. It was the beginning of the week so I think everyone was extra tired from the weekend and having to wake up early as there was lots of tantrums today, specifically with the 2yo. ? It’s the 2 yo, she was extra destructive today lol. On 2 different occasions she threw her head back and hit the wall , she was fine but the bang was atr ..read more

Why do I keep babysitting on weeknights?

4 months out of the year I’m a part time overnight nanny for this great family. They have two kids (2m/6f) and I love them dearly. When I’m not doing overnights they use me for occasional babysitting. I have a full time 8-5 job and once in a while I’ll grab the kids from school if they need me to. Tonight they asked me to get the kids from school and be with them until NP got home. What they didn’t tell me is that they were going to a work event and a dinner. It is now 10pm and they are still not home. I have to be up at 5:30am tomorrow. I know it’s my fault for not asking what time it would ..read more

Nervous, putting in 3 weeks in tomorrow with new NF

Soo, I decided that I’m going to choose myself first and put my three weeks notice in with NF tomorrow. I’ve only worked with them for two months watching their 6m old son. They were looking for a 6m- 1 year commitment, but I quickly realized that I don’t have the screaming tolerance for the 6m old and I no longer want to continue. The contract states at any time I can terminate the contract as long as I let them know in advance. I know their going to be shocked, bc to their kwowledge everything is going well. The truth is, I’m just no longer interested in watching their infant any longer. I ..read more

So I’ve been investing a little bit into nanny gear and little items that would make my life easier. I work a weird schedule for a lot of different families and the one thing I’ve always wanted is my own stroller. Specifically a high-end, designer stroller like a fancy mom, that I could decorate and stock with the necessaries I find myself needing. And I found it!! The uppababy cruz for sale on FB for $50!! And in navy, which is the color I would choose! I’m just so happy, and maybe it’s odd to other people but it feels so nice to have something that’s… mine? I spend so many hours supporting ..read more
