hello! i am a 20 year old female considering getting braces to fix my slight overbite. i notice that whenever i shift my teeth to be aligned straight on top of each other, my lower jaw moves forward and makes my lips look smaller and my overall appearance less appealing.
please be honest with me, if i spend a good chunk of change on these braces, will they alter my facial structure (if someone were to look at me head-on)?

So I got my braces off about a month ago and I was instructed to wear my retainer full time. Honestly retainers just gross me out and I cannot stand wearing it other than at night, so I have only been wearing it at night. Is this really bad? I haven't noticed my teeth shifting atrociously but I am a little concerned.

I had braces 10 years ago but I have retainer wire permanently glued to the back of my teeth so they haven’t moved too much. I haven’t worn my retainer in 4-5 years and I’ve just put it back on because my overbite has worsened. It was VERY tight and does hurt but it does click into place. Will this make my teeth go back to normal or will it mess things up?

Hello everyone, I'm reaching out for support and advice from those who may have faced similar challenges. About a decade ago, I wore traditional braces for four years to correct an overbite and spacing issues. Unfortunately, after the braces were removed, my teeth shifted back due to incorrect tongue positioning, which wasn't addressed until after the treatment. Since insurance didn't cover further treatment, I waited until adulthood to pursue Invisalign in 2022. However, the results weren't satisfactory, with significant flaring and remaining spacing. The doctor told me no further treatment ..read more

I got by braces off at the first week of the year, and was able to transition to only wearing it at night the start of march. However I lost my retainer and won't be able to get a new one till the semester ends. Is there anything I should do? Will that long be to long to wait?

So I think I might have a narrow palate. My teeth overlap a bit and it seems that there is a lack of space. Additionally when I stick out my tounge, I can see the form of my teeth on them quite clearly on the side of my tongue. I thought that this is normal, but that seems to not be the case. I sometimes have hard time breathing through my nose, and I don't think that mewing really works for me (I don't see effects, neither short term, nor long term).
All the stuff that I listed seem to be symptoms of a narrow palate, as far as I got from other posts in this subreddit. Is that right?
If so, w ..read more

I recently found out a RPE only really works well on younger kids. So will it work on me or not I'm already 3 days in.

I want to do what is best for him but after three Orthos consultations I am confuse.
Ortho 1 said two low premolars extraction and no surgery
Ortho 2 four premolars extraction required AND surgery
Ortho 3 said no premolars extraction required with surgery and assured me there is room for all his teeth. He uses only Damon braces and is pricier than the other two
I am leaning toward Ortho 3 because I would like to save all his teeth. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
