This month’s 2nd Monday gathering was in town at Judiths’s home.  We had a lovely afternoon in her gardens and even walked a labyrinth of twigs built by her neighbor modeled after the labyrinth at Chartres cathedral .  Thanks Olga for providing the link to the cathedral here: https://www.cathedrale-chartres.org/en/cathedrale/monument/the-labyrinth/ Equally fun was the light protected bundle of pre treated fabric that Susan brought to demonstrate cyanotype printing.  The picture of her under the table placing various plants that we picked from Judith’s garden so they could be pro ..read more

Summer shenanigans

Sadly I missed our August weavers gathering at my friend Nan’s lovely home.  I heard that it was a large and merry group, and that her risotto was excellent.  Ann fortunately sent me a few pics so that I could have a sense of  how the day went. I missed seeing everyone but it sure was great to relax with my family in the northwoods of the Manitowish Waters area;  with a lake out the back door and the freedom to jump into my kayak anytime I wanted.  Getting out of the kayak was a different story.  I currently have a knee injury and general old lady issues too numer ..read more

2nd Monday weavers gathering at Anne Maries

A fairly large group of us spent a lovely morning at Anne Marie’s peaceful farm.  She is probably only a few miles from me as the crow flies but with the hills and coulee’s it was a considerably longer drive. I’m always amazed that she manages to get down from that ridge in the winter. Several of our group had stories of their recent travels.  Barb B had a trip to the Shetland Isles and I’m pretty sure that she took advantage of all things fiber.  She had a whole lap full of knitting to share with us.  Pretty prolific if you ask me.  My only accomplishment in the knitt ..read more

A perfect summer weavers gathering
Kindred Threads

This months 2nd Monday weavers gathering was conveniently located at my neighbors house last Monday.  Maureen and Duane have created such a lovely outdoor natural wonderland that I’m surprised they are ever indoors. The pond with stone walkways and walls and gorgeous plantings make me want to come back with my sketchbook.  I took a gazillion pictures as every vista looked like a painting.  Their garden is also a work of art and I’m thinking took a just a little bit of work to look so pristine. Maureen’s weaving adventure started about a year or so ago and she now owns the same G ..read more

As in where did this summer go?  Since our weavers gathering met at my house in June we have had a couple of gatherings in the park in town and a missed meeting for September cause apparently everyone was as crazy busy as I was. The Driftless Art Fair was here and gone in the blink of an eye.  I am so grateful to have shared the booth with fellow jeweler and good friend Nan Marshall of Nan Marshall Designs.  Check out her work, it is both unique and well crafted. Theoretically sharing a booth was supposed to take some of the pressure off of having to build  a large inventor ..read more

2nd Monday at my house
Kindred Threads

Our 2nd Monday gathering was at my house this month.  It seemed like a good time to host as I am between art fair craziness and it has been such a lovely spring for flowers, if I squint my eyes to not see any of the weeds.  Also my house really needed cleaning. It was threatening to storm and that could be part of the reason it was a small group. With my limited parking, no one wants to walk up my rather long and steep driveway in a downpour.  Small is always good for better conversation and it was nice to get to know our newbie weaver Ann Marty who is also new to the area. I’ve ..read more

Winding Roads Art Tour

After a two year hiatus the Winding Roads Art Tour had a very successful return on June 4-5. I was fortunate to share the home of my friend, jeweler Nan Marshall to display my handwovens and jewelry.  It was fun to share our work with so many people, some from as far away as the Twin cities.  So hopefully we see you all again next year. And many thanks to Nan and her family for opening their home for this wonderful event. Between getting covid and traveling for a family illness, my time to prep was cut back considerably.  Thankfully I didn’t have to clean my house and studio or ..read more

It was pretty great heading to Barbs house for our 2nd Monday weavers gathering last Monday.  First the drive down through our  rolling  hills of the driftless region and then down along the Wisconsin River was lovely, even without any seeing much evidence of spring time green colors yet.  It was just great to get out of town.  Plus we had new weaver Maureen to share her first ever weaving project and we met a new person, Rachel who knits with Barb at our local yarn store Ewetopia.  Barb and Rachel both had some lovely hand knits and I believe in Barb’s case hands ..read more

2nd Monday at Elin’s

Last Monday our weavers group gathered again at Elin’s new studio.  We were a small but apparently very productive group.  As always seeing the amazing textiles that these talented women create has me itching to get busy on my loom. Jewelry making has been  a lovely distraction in preparation for VIVA Gallery’s February Jewelry and Chocolate show, but now I feel the need to get my fingers into some wool, especially after seeing Denise’s many finished projects and Elin’s double weave wool blanket on the loom.  I have yet to try double weave that folds open to be twice the lo ..read more

As usual December was here and gone so fast I don’t know why I was in such a tizzy.  One respite from all of the holiday preparations was our weavers gathering that took place at a pop-up shop in Viroqua called Artisan Alley. It was a great place to find quality handmade items and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many talented weavers in one shop/gallery. I will share some of those pics and some from my Christmas pics at home.  My Christmas eve was a bit screwed up because I tested positive on a home test the morning of; when 15 or so of Jim’s family were coming for dinner.  We ..read more
