During one of my fused glass classes. One of my students and customers wanted to buy another fused glass necklace. She likes the big snaps so since she set up the class instead of two, I let her choose 3 big snaps. Here are two of the snaps she chose, the third one was on the necklace around her neck so I don’t have a picture of it. I don’t always make the big snaps so even though I have 30 or so I also gave her the option to look in my supply of cabochons that I hadn’t finished yet. Here are some of the options. The two above are from the box of cabochons. I just put the back on for her and ..read more

I love making fused glass magnets. I’ve made several types. I have very tiny, fused glass cabochons and thought I’d put some on tiny clothespins. Everything looks better with glass. Perfect for the refrigerator and holding small notes. I also have tiny, fused glass magnets again perfect for the refrigerator, and so fun! I love magnets I’ve made a myriad of them over the years. Here are just a few. Aren’t they fun!! Check out some of my other posts about fused glass magnets, and let me know which ones are your favorite. Deep Fused Glass Scenic Technique

One of my goals is always to try new fused glass techniques. Well, here is one of them, it’s based on a Tabitha’s YouTube video. She is amazing and she create a myriad of the murrine and millefiori. I love her glass accessories and her videos are just so fun.  I won’t go into how to make the technique, but I will tell you I find it a bit challenging and takes several steps. They can be magnets or pendants, but because they take so much work, I think the best way to use them is by framing them. Here are some ways they can be framed. Here is the butterfly scene, with 6 possible frames. He ..read more

I’ve written about my production Fused Glass commercial soap dishes for hotels before. Recently I received another orders from one of my loyal hotels in California. Here they are, I’ve been so busy I forgot to take pictures of them in the kiln for their fusing and slumping but at least you get to see them finished. I like to give a free gift with every order, so I sent the manager a forever flower magnet and a fused glass pocket heart. I hope she likes them. If you would like me to make custom soap dishes for your hotel or restaurant, please contact me I’m happy to create them for you. If yo ..read more

In February I was scheduled to teach a Fused Glass Dichroic Jewelry Class at Festivitea, however, we had a snow storm and had to delay it until I returned from my trip to Korea. Here are some of the myriad of samples I made for the class. The samples included iridized, black dichroic (textured, pattern, and solid), and clear glass as well as both full and tacked fused pendants and earrings. Here are some sample fused glass dichroic earrings, they can be made into dangle or post. I cut a variety of backgrounds & dichroic glass, I made lots of dots & what I call chips of glass, and I a ..read more

New Fused Glass Vases

Recently I added bases to a few more of my fused glass vases. I’ve done this before and I just think the bases add something to some vases. Here are a few of my older fused glass vases that I added bases too and have posted about before. This new fused glass amber vase is a drop vase, but instead of cutting off the ring I left it then added a matching base. Very cool. In case you don’t remember what a drop vase it is and what I normally do with them i.e., cutting off the rim, here are a few. This is another drop vase, but it reminded me of a flower so I added a complimentary green base that ..read more

I love making fused glass dishes, whether they are functional or more artistic. Here are a couple of my functional dishes, the dinner plates below are in my Westcliffe home. Of course I make my tea dishes and soap dishes. So yes I love my functional dishes. However, I love more artistic dishes as well. Here are two “dishes” I made recently that aren’t for food, soap, or tea. Aren’t they beautiful? I’ll continue to make both types of dishes functional and more artistic dishes. Which is your favorite? If you would like to see some of my fused glass work, please refer to my website Elegan ..read more

In my last post I wrote about my fused glass night lights. Another of my favorite things to make is candle shields. I make them the same way but instead of plugging them in as a night light, they can sit anywhere and light up. Again, they are functional and art all in one. Just like my night lights I also made some flower vase candle shields as well. So perfect for Mother’s day. BTW did you know a candle shield can be used as a vase as well, just by adding a flower frog. Aren’t they lovely!! Big surprise I also have screen-printed candle shields as well. I just love screen-printing. Which i ..read more

In addition to my aspens, I made some fused glass flower vase night lights. Perfect for Mother’s Day. I think I showed my screen-printed night lights before, but they deserve to one. Which is your favorite? Here are my flower vase night lights. They make perfect Mother’s Day presents. I love how many millefiori options there are available. If you look close, you’ll also see lady bugs, bees, & butterflies. I think I showed ..read more

Resin and glass Cabochons
Elegant Fused Glass by Karen

When I was making the resin, glass, and shell artwork I had some extra resin. With my extra resin I decided to add dried flowers to some of my fused glass cabochons. This one is nice and smooth. It’s simple but really smooth. I’m not sure what I will make with it, either a magnet or pendant. What do you think I should make with it? This one is much prettier in person, but it is a bit sharp along the flower. I may add some more resin. I love this one, so bright. It’s sharp along the edge of the flowers as well so I may add some more resin. This one is nice and smooth. I’m not sure what I wi ..read more
