Welcome to #RomBkLove 2020 Day 19 Kink in Romance. I am a huge fan of #RomBkLove which is an amazing book event put together by one of my favorite romance novel advocates, Ana Coqu of Immersed in Reading. Big thanks to Ana for arranging and managing #RomBkLove.   It is no secret that I read a great deal of kinky romance. There is something about the way that the main characters relate to each other in these stories, often opening their most intimate selves up, that I adore. This kinky romances tend to hit all of my reading sweet spots.   The first book I want to recommend ..read more

Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean (historical, Avon, August 2019) Series: The Bareknuckle Bastards, book 2 What to say about Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean? Today in #RomBkLove I want to talk about romances which go beyond the standard couple. Romances that feature 2 people falling in love are the most common type, but there are those out there that feature less traditional groupings. I find that these stories offer a different perspective on love one which is often a more inclusive perspective. Here are some of my favorites: Jay and Adriana from Solace Ames’ The Submission Gift are also a married couple, These two end up inviting another into their relationship. After being wounded in a car accident, Jay is healing, but he is unable to be a ..read more

Review: Just Past Two by Elia Winters
Romance Novel News

Just Past Two by Elia Winters (erotic, Entangled, May 2019) One of my favorite things about this book is that Abby is the more sexually confident of the two. Sam certainly had had sex, but hadn’t experimented to the level that Abby had and hadn’t really discovered what made himself tick. Much of Just Past Two is about Sam’s sexual journey which is something different for me. So often, it is the female character in male/female erotic romance that is discovering her sexual self. I did have one issue with this book. At one point, Sam sets up a potential date for Abby with another man. Whil ..read more

Butterfly Ops: Book 3 by Jen Doyle (urban fantasy, May 2019, self published) Lynsey and Ian’s relationship is complicated and messy. Ian worked in the military as part of a group that was experimenting on people to create supersoldiers. Lynsey was also part of the experiments, but a disposable part. Ian would not allow the government to kill her. But in the process, secrets, lies and extenuating circumstances separated them. Meanwhile, Ian eventually married another woman (to Abby) and they had four children. By the time the series starts however, Ian’s wife has been dead for several years ..read more

Review: Their Discovery by Rebecca Grace Allen

Their Discovery by Rebecca Grace Allen (contemporary, self-published, April 2019) Well that is until one evening when the two reconnect sexually with explosive results. The difference is that Sam takes charge and tells Brady exactly what she wants him to do. While Brady responds to Sams orders, he does have trouble processing what his need to submit to his wife means in a broader sense. There were definitely times while reading Their Discovery that I wanted to shake Brady and Sam (mostly Brady) and scream “JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER ALREADY!” But honestly, Brady needed to come to terms with ..read more

The Austen Playbook by Lucy Parker (contemporary, Carina, April 2019) In this book, actress Freddy and critic Griff are a bit at odds over some ill-timed comments that Griff makes about one of Freddy’s performances. But they are put into close contact when Freddy gets a starring role in The Austen Playbook, a live production to be staged on Griff’s estate and the sparks fly. Griff and his brother have agreed to host the production in an old theater on their estate to help bring in some badly needed money. It doesn’t hurt that the theater was built by Griff’s grandfather for Freddy’s famo ..read more

Review: The Devil You Know by Elyssa Patrick

The Devil On Your Shoulder by Elyssa Patrick (contemporary, self published, April 2019) Once Deacon realizes that Nora is developing feelings for him, he balks. This is despite having actually invited Nora to a family wedding. I can say that poor Deacon was a wee bit clueless that he was falling in love (this is rather normal in romance novels though). Deacon definitely needed a bit of a figurative smack upside the head to get him out of his “I-can’t-commit” mindset. And a bit later: Also, I have to mention the SEX DESSERTS: “You know what sex dessert is.” All the kudos to Pat ..read more
