So I’m currently stuck between transferring to Cal Poly Pomona or Cal State San Bernardino. The problem is they both have Information Technology but CSUSB has it with a cybersecurity emphasis but CPP has information technology but its a business major. I want to do network engineering and I plan on getting certificates in the related field soon. Does anyone have any tips on what school I should go to? submitted by /u/Adventurous-Wonder32 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m about to finish my first year of college studying IT. My initial goal was to earn a certificate in Cybersecurity since my school offers it and I’ve been interested in the field since high school. As I’ve been taking some IT classes I’ve been questioning my ability. I’m finishing taking a Network fundamentals course this semester and let me tell you, it was definitely not easy. The exams kicked my ass but I actually enjoyed doing the “hands on” labs with Cisco packet tracer and wire shark, I averaged about a 95% in the labs which are worth 50% of my grade. I understand what’s going on in t ..read more

Hey everyone, not sure the exact subreddit this falls into so I apologize. Currently a student and I graduate with my bachelors in "Computer Information Systems Technology: Cybersecurity Specialization" in December 14, 2024. I was wondering if it's possible to get hired this summer even though I have a semester left? submitted by /u/Zantura_ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've been looking in tech field to get a career path but I'm currently in community college not sure what to puruse. I don't like my current studies in radiology tech. I kept asking alot of people and some say they like and not. I'm mostly worried about job opportunities and growth plus salary. I heard tech pays more and seems like top growing industry people choose to enter. I had like a question, how can I get in this field if I have no experience or basic knowledge about tech. I don't mind changing my path in college because I don't really feel passionate about radiology tech. I feel like ..read more

Is SSE the new thing, does it replace an AV? For context I am doing a project for a small business of 4 employees who mainly use documents, emails and have around 1TB of data. ( they also work remotely for around 5 months a year) Would you reccomend looking for an SSE solution or just stick with an antivirus Budget is not an issue submitted by /u/Fantastic_Set8169 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm just reaching out to the Reddit world. My boss is having a school group come to my workplace and wants me to do a presentation on what I.T. is and what we do. Do you guys have any suggestions to make IT fun in front of a group of 75 school-age kids? He wants it to be interactive and possibly show them computer parts, no presentation apparently. I appreciate your guy's thoughts! submitted by /u/Broad_Stable_4908 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking to make the switch to IT. Always been a computer geek. I'm a 30 y.o. who is married with a 2 year old kid. Healthcare just isn't it for me anymore, been here for 10 years and ready for a change. Passionate about making the change and want to be in this industry but other than being a gamer and learning stuff in my own, I don't know or have any certifications. I'm always troubleshooting my PC and my families computer/IT issues. Any guidance or where to start would help. Obviously, I understand CompTIA would be the start, but looking for guidance and advice of switching careers after th ..read more
