So mi issue is the following: the rows start with the white. If, after completing a round, I count my rows from MC+6sc(=1) to the last row in the beginning of the row (white), I count 25 rows. If I do the same at the end of the row, I count 26. Doesn't make sense, right? And now I'm lost: why doesn't it make sense?

I’m a beginner at amigurumi, so I’d appreciate any advice or tips on how I could redo this to look better! The second picture is from the pattern I am using. Thank you in advance! :)

I've never done any crocheting before. For some reason, I thought this would be am "easy" hobby (haha). I also thought it was a wise idea to use a dark colored plush yarn too... Haha. I can't tell you how many times I lost count and just said F-it, or accidentally hooked into 2 stitches instead of just the front stitch. But here he is, Mr. Lumpy Bumpy. Pls tell me it gets easier.
You can literally see my improvement across each row as I got more confident with what I was doing hahaha.

This is the first thing aside from a chain I have ever made. I definitely learned a lot and see that I have a lot left to learn.

I give it a 6/10. I was really struggling with the pattern, mostly because it basically says to improvise in critical spots, like around the toes and the heel. I literally ended up crocheting a flap with some increases and sewing the heel to the ankle. I'm not looking forward to the second foot....any tips on how I can make the second one go better?

I found a tutorial on YouTube for a super cute hippo! I just decided to tweak it a little bit more for my own liking.
