Fire Country fans had big expectations of the season finale, but did it work out how everyone wanted? Yes and no, for this uber-fan. The good news is that Fire Country Season 2 Episode 10 started with our fav bad boy inmate getting sprung from prison. That's right, Bode's back baby! And so is his trusty sidekick, Freddy. At least for the moment. But being free from prison doesn't mean the problems are over for Bode. Now, he's got to find a job and a way to move on with his life. What will Bode be if he's not a firefighter? Freddy: It's called Goat's Grilled Cheese Truck, and LA loves it ..read more

Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Boom
TV Fanatic
by Jack Ori

A desolate planet at war for no apparent reason. Algorithms that decide who lives or dies. Landmines that turn their victims into weapons of mass destruction. Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 3 took a decidedly darker tone, putting to rest fears that the series had become childish, lighthearted fare after Disney+ agreed to stream it worldwide. This story had some Twilight Zone-like elements, which was unsurprising considering that it was written by Steven Moffat, known for writing scarier, more horror-inspired content than other Doctor Who writers. Still, did he set up a brilliant story only t ..read more

We’re interested in trying new things at TV Fanatic. Today, associate editor Tyler Johnson and I had an off-the-cuff conversation that felt like an article in the making. But what if the conversation is more fun than any article we could write? We’re about to find out. Carissa: I love this bit from David Cronenberg from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter out of Cannes: THR: So if you’re not ready to put your filmmaking career to bed, what makes you get up each day with an inkling you may do another movie? Cronenberg: What makes me wake up is the thought of breakfast, quite frankly. T ..read more

Will Trent: Will Sara Linton Fit Into the Current Canvas?
TV Fanatic
by Laura Nowak

Best-selling author Karin Slaughter has written many crime thrillers, but Will Trent and Sara Linton are the two main protagonists from her Will Trent book series. ABC has done a splendid job adapting the books into the television series. They've fleshed out the character arcs, strengthened relationships, and made one-note characters like Michael Ormewood and Angie Polaski more likable and relatable. However, diehard book fans complain about the lack of Sara Linton, who ended up being Will's love interest. How would Sara work with the current canvas with a cast that's been tight since the b ..read more

19 TV Cameos Worth Celebrating
TV Fanatic
by Michael Arangua
10h ago
The one fatal mistake that most TV shows make is using TV cameos gratuitously. If the cameo doesn't mean something to the audience and the characters in the show, it's pointless, and little more than a random Stan Lee Appears gag. On the other hand, too many shows have fallen into the trap of celebrity worship with their cameos. Having cast members gawk and gape at their celebrity crush as if to reinforce the celebrity's prestige while doing nothing for the universe we enjoy is a waste of talent. For this list of the top TV cameos worth celebrating, we will focus on iconic cameo appearances th ..read more

The Ethics of True Crime: Are Viewers Complicit In an Exploitative Enterprise?
TV Fanatic
by Haley Whitmire White

True crime content is easily accessible no matter how you prefer to consume it. As soon as a horrific crime has been committed, a network (usually Investigation Discovery) is chasing the story to turn it into the next big docu-hit. With little holding these networks back legally or financially, they can quickly produce compelling, detailed docuseries. The question is: should they? It's a complicated question, and we're not the first to ask it. The voyeuristic obsession with some of the most unfathomable horrors that could happen to a person isn't new. More than a century ago, people were de ..read more

9-1-1 Post-Mortem: Malcolm-Jamal Warner Talks Amir's Decisions & Where Bobby and Amir Go From Here
TV Fanatic
by Whitney Evans
16h ago
Bobby Nash's story is one filled with sadness, and during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 8, we got a much deeper look into his past and present. Amir is someone from Bobby's past, though Bobby was only aware of that when Amir revealed at an AA meeting that the two had a deep history. From that meeting forward, the hour unfolded in typical 9-1-1 fashion. It was emotionally charged and incredibly dense, as Bobby's plea for amends found the two men, once strangers, relying on one another for survival. Esteemed and multi-talented actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner joined the cast for 9-1-1 Season 7 in the role ..read more

Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 8 Review: Blood, Sweat, and Tears
TV Fanatic

So, that happened. And by "that," I mean not much at all. What is there to really say about Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 8? Other than it was an episode, things happened, but it had little importance or substance. It's probably because so much of what has happened feels redundant. Much of the hour felt like a combination of at least four or five previous episodes from the series. I am scared of not living up to my patient's expectations. Amelia Permalink: I am scared of not living up to my patient's expectations. Added: May 16, 2024 Things like that are bound to happen on a series t ..read more
