Eugene is a college town and a running city. From the University of Oregon campus to the park trails to the unique neighborhood side streets, it is just a great place to go for a run. And even better place to go for a race. The Eugene Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K, and Duck Dash are all taking place in one major running weekend April 27 and 28. With races starting and ending at Hayward Field, participants will get a taste of the Duck spirit all around them. And since races are organized throughout the weekend, folks can line up for more than one start line (and earn more than one medal). The wee ..read more

The Oregon Road Runners Club is known for putting on well organized, low-key, and awesome events.  The 2024 Vernonia Marathon/Half Marathon/Marathon Relay, which will be held Sunday April 14th, 20204, will be no exception. These ORRC Volunteer RD’s are all passionate and dedicated runners themselves so they know everything that needs to be in place to create a memorable event. I’ve run the Vernonia Marathon once and the half many times. The course, which is mostly on a paved path along the forested Banks-Vernonia State Trail, is really beautiful and almost all downhill or flat. This is a ..read more

Run Toward the Light: Tunnel Marathons (North Bend, WA)
Run Oregon | Marathon
by Meg Roberts

If someone told you to run into a pitch-black cave for a marathon PR, would you do it? That is the question that guides so many to the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon every summer. That event is one of three as a part of the Tunnel Marathons series each summer. This year on June 9 (or August 11 or September 8th), you can take on the challenge of starting your race with 2.4 miles in a tunnel, followed by the joy of 20 miles primarily downhill toward the finish line. Once you get about 50 yards into the tunnel, you can see that light ahead of you – 2 miles away – that you are runnin ..read more

Beyond the Horizon: A Sneak Peek into the Bend Marathon & Half
Run Oregon | Marathon

I have been a lover of the Bend Marathon and Half for years now. Nine (!) years ago, I completed the half and had this to say,: “Trust me, this is the latest addition to your ‘running bucket list.’ You won’t regret it. Prepare to be blown away!” Now in its 9th year, the Bend Marathon and Half is back and better than ever. Though it is affectionately described with its longer distances, it actually includes four different distances, so you get lots options for your ideal running weekend. You can go for a shorter 5K or 10K, to get to the finish line party sooner. Or see more of the area through ..read more

Three Cheers for the Three Capes Relay (Cape Meares to Pacific City)
Run Oregon | Marathon

Relay races are such a great way to be with friends, create memories, and get active. Three Capes Relay has been very popular amongst the Run Oregon team. We have had many racers over the years participate in this great race, myself included. With so many relay races to choose from, this one is definitely a top race in my book. The course, the distances, and the scenery are just a few reasons why I always recommend the Three Capes Relay. Many 1-day relays take the whole day to complete, Three Capes Relay however, is only a distance of 26.2 miles. On the course there is an over 2 ..read more

Oregon’s fall season never fails to impress, with its striking landscapes and changing colors. It’s a privilege to live in a place that boasts four distinct seasons. The cooler temperatures and the unmistakable scent of autumn create a unique atmosphere. Of course, in Oregon, rain is always a possibility, but when the weather clears up, the experiences are simply spectacular. That’s exactly what we enjoyed at the 2023 Columbia Gorge Marathon and Half last weekend. I arrived at the Columbia Gorge a few days before the race, greeted by a near-perfect weekend. Friday afternoon welcomed us wi ..read more

If you’ve never been to Ashland, you really need to add it to your list of places to visit in Oregon. It’s a cute little town, reminiscent of Bend before it got so trendy and big, and it’s got some great little shops and restaurants. It also hosts the Rogue Marathon/Half Marathon/10k in the Fall, and I was happy to spend a weekend away with some friends to run in the Half this year. (FYI, there’s a kids run too and it’s a very family friendly event!!) The Full marathon starts at Emigrant Lake County Park; at 7:00 AM but the Half Marathoners take off an hour later at Paschal Winery and V ..read more
