Differences between Nepal and India

Hi all, I am planning a trip this Fall. Nepal is an option. I will only have 10 days so if I go there, I don't think I will be hiking. It will mostly be Kathmandu and Pokara and maybe Chitwan Park. But I have been to India before in Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, and feel like if I am not hiking, then the cultural experience in cities will more or less be similar in Nepal than it was in North India. People who have been to both places, what do you think are the similarities and differences? Thank you! submitted by /u/sublime_ss [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Solo travel to Mauritius for a friends wedding late October 24 - never done this before! M24 from London

Hey everyone, I’m travelling to Mauritius towards the end of October for a friends wedding but won’t be spending much time with him (apart from the wedding dates) as he’ll be busy seeing family that live there and our other friend who was due to come had to unfortunately drop out so I’m now pretty much on my own. It would be my first time “solo” travelling so any advice would be great but more specifically for Mauritius, any idea how friendly the people are? It would be ideal if I could just make friends with locals and have them to hang out with during my stay so are the people generally wel ..read more

Palma de Mallorca in late September?

Considering 4-5 days. Having hesitations for two reasons: 1) the possibility of rain seems pretty high. I would be going to sunbathe and swim at the beach. Is rain on Mallorca typically stormy? Short? 2) transportation. Since I am going alone, I would not be renting a car as it would be too pricey without splitting costs. Will I be limited in how much I can see without a car? submitted by /u/en_flor [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm goin to Mexico in about a week and am trying to figure out the best itinerary. I have a lot of experience solo traveling (never in S. or central america), and am into nature, hiking, animals, beeches, not super touristy areas or activities. My Spanish is decent so I'm not too worried about communicating. I'm flying into Tulum and staying for 10 days. I was thinking about staying a night in Valladolid to see Chichen Itza. Then going to Merida for a few nights then Progresso for the beach. Should I stay anywhere near Tulum or anywhere to not miss in these areas? And if you have any hostel r ..read more

I’m very curious to know, did any of you already have this kind of experience when solotraveling? How did you deal with it afterwards? I’d be happy to hear about your stories. So, I spent over a month solo in France last winter. I had planned to visit multiple places and cities all across the country and I’d start out with a relatively big city (for european standards ig) and stay for a while in a rented room of a family house. As soon as I got there, they welcomed me very warmly, took me to have dinner and then my host asked me if I had plans of skiing. I told her I had never done it but wou ..read more

Looking for advice or subs dedicated to travelling alternatives to flying

Hi everyone, I’m considering travelling to Ireland this summer (I live in Italy). I wanted to consider travelling alternatives to flying there. It’s not because of fear, as I have travelled many times via plane: I just know that planes emit a considerably higher amount of co2 compared to trains or ferries, therefore I want to at least consider if it would be possible for me, (f, 26), to use travelling alternatives. How much time di you reckon it would take me to get to, say, Dublin from Italy? also, if anyone knows other subs about boycotting planes (I’ve heard somewhere there’s a community o ..read more

Is A Germany->Poland->Baltics->Sweden Trip Feasible In 2.5-3 Weeks?

I'm considering doing an impulsive trip in June: Berlin - 3 nights Krakow - 2 nights Warsaw - 2 nights Vilinus - 3 nights Riga - 2 nights Tallin - 2 nights Stockholm - 3 nights +4 days margin for me to spend more time in individual places because it's fun, or because I need to relax. I'm probably mid-budget. Think private rooms in a hostel type of budget. I love to meet people, both locals and other people travelling. I like food, local drinking, history, and nature. Mainly I just want to have new experiences. A few questions for anyone with experience (or locals): Are any of these places no ..read more
