NEW PATTERN: IBI DRESS
Pauline Alice

I remember showing a glimpse of what would become the Ibi dress pattern on Instagram back in March, 9 months ago. I asked if I should make a pattern from this dress I designed and you were a lot to express interest. So I started working on it and just like a baby, it’s finally here after 9 long months! Working on the pattern, I couldn’t make up my mind on details and at the end, decided to add them all to the pattern so you would be able to make so many different versions of the dress. That’s how the Ibi dress was born. Let’s start the presentation: the Ibi dress is a long, flowy dress, with r ..read more

This is such an exciting time for me, a great mix of stress and joy, to announce the opening of the new shop! I’ve been working on a new page for almost one year and I couldn’t be happier to share it with you. In this new online store, you’ll find all the Pauline Alice patterns in print and PDF, just like before. But there are some big changes as well: fabrics and haberdashery! They go hand-in-hand with the patterns and I’ve been curating a great selection for some time now. You’ll find beautiful and timeless fabrics, most of them in certified natural materials and a nice selection of supplie ..read more

FABRIC INSPIRATION FOR MARITIMS
Pauline Alice

From the beginning, I’ve pictured the Albors trousers and the Maritims pullover as a set, made in the same fabric. So naturally, I chose some cotton canvas to sew the prototypes. But that’s not the only type of fabrics available for the Maritims pullover. I’ve made a selection of great ideas for the outer fabric (for the lining, poplin or flannel would be perfect). ATHLEISURE 1/ Turquoise nylon Rpistop – Harts Fabric 2/ Camo Ripstop oilskin– Merchant & Mills 3/ Arctic softshell – Telas activas Source images (from the left to the right and from the top to the bottom): Carhartt  / &nbs ..read more

Finally, it’s time to show you the Maritims pullover in details! I don’t know if you know it but I’m from Britanny (France). So the fisherman smock or « vareuse » as we call it in french was an evidence for me, I knew I would design one, one day (it’s a basic there, just like the rain coat and rubber boots). After the Serra jacket, I thought it would be great to make another unisex pattern. A pullover you put on like a sweater but that protects you like a jacket. Maritims is fully lined to shield you from the weather and have nice finishing on the inside. It has a loose shape with d ..read more

ZOOM IN: CALVARI

It’s time to shine the light on the Calvari dress. It has all the characteristics of a shirt dress : a notched collar, a buttonband, shoulder yoke, breast pockets. Its simple, loose shape makes it perfect for every season. The buttonband finishes with a pleat on the front, which adds some ease as well as the back pleats below the yoke. Like a modern uniform with the bracelet length sleeves and the notch collar, you can wear it alone as a dress or over some trousers as an oversize tunic. I imagine it perfectly worn by the seaside, at the market or gardening. For this collection, I was ins ..read more

Let’s start the presentation of the new patterns with the Albors trousers. With two young boys, I spend my days running after them or on the floor, at home or at the park, so my dresses and skirts are gathering dust in my wardrobe. I needed a pair of trousers, comfortable and practical in all situations. Workwear as inspiration is not new for me (hello Tello jacket), so naturally, it came back when I was designing this new collection and the Albors trousers in particular. Albors has a classic shape : a regular high waist (just below the navel), hip hugging and then straight wide legs wit ..read more

NEW COLLECTION

It took more time than I thought it would but the new collection is finally here! Let’s take a look at the Albors trousers, the Maritims pullover and the Calvari dress. I started designing these patterns when we were confined and I guess it reflects my need of horizons, fresh air and freedom. I wanted clothes I could wear outside, for all weather, that can be worn through the day for different activities, outdoors or indoors. And Rosa, the photograph, understood that perfectly, it shows in the pictures don’t you think ? Here’s a short description of the patterns : Albors is a classi ..read more

The new patterns are here!

I am delighted to finally be able to share the new patterns I’ve been working on since last october. They were supposed to be released in March, perfect for Spring, but fate decided otherwise! Between giving birth to my son a bit early and the Covid-19 crisis, it took a lot more time to finish the patterns instructions and get them printed. But now they are ready and I can’t wait to show them to you! I’ve realised that I tend to design more romantic and vintage inspired patterns for Spring/Summer (as for Fall/Winter, I’m inspired by a more modern and minimalist aesthetic, I don’t know why). La ..read more
