Zone 2 Training

Looking for tips on zone 2 training. Did my first tri last year and looking to do a lot better this year, got over zealous after the first and overtrained and was forced out of endurance training for 6 months. Focused on strength training and I’m starting back on endurance now. On my bikes and runs I’m trying to train longer at lower heart rate to avoid injury again. Do any of you have tips on not yo-yoing around the threshold when you bike and run? I’m staying in about 60% but then either fall into 1 when I walk to drop my heart rate or spike to 3 even 4 when I run a cross street or hill. I ..read more

Predicted 10k based off training - Advice

Hey everyone. I have my second triathlon ever in 2 weeks (Olympic distance). Currently my 10k time is around 44 mins. What time would you expect me to run on the day? I would guess slower due to fatigue from the swim/bike but could be wrong. I’m asking as it will help me pace things and be more confident on the day. I appreciate it’s a difficult question to answer. Many thanks! submitted by /u/jameschowler321 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello fellow Redditors! As the title says, my husband will be competing in his first triathlon race next weekend. It will also be my first time being a mental, physical, snack & water support. What are the best way to support him? Is there anything we should be aware of, anything we should not forget, anything that we should bring with us for pre-race/race/post-race moments? Thank you in advance! Edit: forgot the distances: 1.5km Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run submitted by /u/sassyhamy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Besides interval training what are other ways to get faster on the bike? I feel like I can get faster swimming and running but biking has been the same. Also does losing weight help with going faster, let’s say 20 lbs? submitted by /u/Ill_Organization4125 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What is everyone's swimming journey?

Just curious! I recently had a swim analysis done, and the coach explicitly has told me what all I need to change with my stroke - basically everything lol. I'm definitely relearning how to swim again (I think this is the 4th time?), and I'm definitely feeling demoralised. How has everyone else's journey been? submitted by /u/Odd-Art2362 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Used bike valuation

Been seeing a bunch of “is this bike worth it?” posts recently and in the spirit of “teach a man to fish,” I wanted to let folks know about bicyclebluebook.com. It’s like Kellybluebook.com (for cars) and I’ve found it pretty helpful for getting a baseline of value for used bikes. It doesn’t have everything under the sun but most of the major brands and such. https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/ submitted by /u/michalek [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’ve never bought a tt bike and feel like I’m in over my head! Owner said the following: Has had Routine maintenance. Has spare set of aero bars, spacers, bottle cages, other bits and pieces that you would spend several hundred dollars replacing. Would appreciate any advice! submitted by /u/sharknado1234 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
