Why the world stopped having sex
Ask The Monsters

I had a little shock, when I read this title on the Telegraph. Being a British newspaper, I suspected the article might have been written regarding England. But no, the report starts with nothing else than Paris, the City of Love, and the state of sex in France. A poll by the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) found that 24% of French adults between 18 and 69 said they had no sex in the preceding 12 months. What is more alarming, is that this result mirrors those of other Western countries. Let’s go to Britain. The number of British teenagers having the first sexual experience by the ag ..read more

How to beat 10 people simultaneously

This morning I saw a viral video. Tunde Onakoya,  a Nigerian Chess Master, walking from one table to another, moving a pawn, winning, graciously shaking hands and doing it allover again. Even his opponents seemed to recognise that what was happening was more than fair, and appreciate it. I was curious and went to his profile. Here is his latest post:   Dear Dreamer, Recently, a video of me playing chess against 10 people simoultaneously in Germany has been making rounds on the Internet.  This has brought a lot of attention to me ad I have gained 200k followers across social medi ..read more

Vacation with the first (artificially) intelligent Smartphone When someone goes on a trip, they can tell something. And in the age of cell phones, there will definitely be plenty of photos to show. Same in our case. While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 was allowed to fly to Mallorca last year, this time it was the turn of the new flagship. And a ship it is. More of a luxury yacht, because the Koreans have really packed everything that is currently technically possible into this device. As the first Galaxy Smartphone ever, this cell phone is made of titanium, which is intended to increase durabilit ..read more

Luxury in Transition

Photos: Elena Steness A Hot Topic How should one represent and market luxury in such  a complex moment of the world?  With values changing so deeply, does it make sense to talk about this industry? The Swiss Travel Communicators Association discussed this delicate topic yesterday in Zurich, at the new Maserati showroom, surrounded by beautiful Italian design. Three people were talking to an audience of journalists, travel bloggers and marketing experts: Dr. Felicitas Morhart, Professor of Marketing ad Lausanne University, Christian Von Rechenberg, General Manager at Baur au Lac ..read more

Here’s the man’s point of view! Welcome Stephan Gubler
Ask The Monsters

He says, she says is a beloved tradition Stephan Gubler started on this blog, reviewing  cars, watches or tech items and asking me how I see them from a woman’s point of view. We then compare our opinions and, of course, I am right and he is wrong. Since these articles always had a lot of clicks and since, above all,  Stephan and I always have a great time with the whole reviewing and writing process, we decided to make this column a bit more regular. Now you can see a box on our homepage where we will be posting more if it. Stephan is a friend and a well estabilished Swiss journalis ..read more

Famous Clients Oh My God, was she…is she…is she the woman I am thinking of? I asked Silvia Vanzetti, founder and CEO of Physioaesthetics Group Zurich, when entering the door. A tall, extremely good looking woman had just exited and really looked like someone very famous. She might be! Silvia answered with a smile, before making the gesture of tightening her lips with her right hand. We must be in Switzerland: discretion is a must. So I am not allowed to say who she was, but I guess she might be a career woman with a place on lake Como….anyway she had just been visiting the new Swiss Centre for ..read more

Welcome to Cloud9 Ticino, a boutique accommodation in Valle di Muggio, not far from the border to Italy, that I have already visited twice and to which I go back to relax and…feel like cocaine. What do I mean by that? If you are familiar with biohacking – also known as human enhancement – you know that it involves some changes to the body or lifestyle that can improve your health and well-being. There are some zero cost tricks, or habits, that don’t involve any medicine and can make you feel great. If you want your body to release as much dopamine as if you just had some cocaine, here is what ..read more

Be a Pirate!
Ask The Monsters

Have you ever heard of women who became pirates? Traditionally, the history of piracy has focused on the legendary marauders active in Europe and the Americas between the 16th and 18th centuries. In reality, pirates operated in all times and seas, from the British Isles to Southeast Asia, from the Mediterranean to Scandinavia, from the Caribbean to the Southern Hemisphere. Among these shady as well as fascinating figures, there were not only rough and bearded hulks but also women and maidens who left land and chose the sea as a space and instrument of emancipation and individual fulfillment, t ..read more

A Night Adventure Click! I heard from the little lamp attached to the elastic band around my head. Yes, it had gone on – I could see it from the cone of light in front of me, illuminating the snow. I had to gasp air for a moment, and then  it was silence. Just wow. My foot made a small icy noise by moving. I looked around. We had the mountain for ourselves. We had seen the sunset, and now it had turned dark. I felt like a real explorer! I was certainly dressed to look the part. Getting to the top that our guide, Joe, had pointed us, I could hear the wind blowing – I was standing on top of ..read more

Einstein and the Swiss Government
Ask The Monsters

Once upon a time… …the magnificent Bellevue Palace, in the heart of the Swiss capital, Bern, was sold for 1 Swiss Franc. You might think: what a shame I couldn’t buy it myself! But the Swiss did find a clever way to do it, therefore today they technically own it. A smart move – maybe it’s not a coincidence that Einstein used to live five minutes from there. Let’s take a tour of this beautiful building, which is also the official guesthouse of the Swiss Government. At the end, I’ll finish the 1 Swiss franc story. We start in the elegant neoclassical lobby with its magnificent stained glass wind ..read more
