I’m wanting to creating an offshoot of my support group for my mental illness that’s like a philosophical book club. Some of the pieces are available as pdf’s online but I have so many more texts that would be great. Does this fall under fair use? I’m doubtful but hopeful lol. It is technically for educational purposes? Maybe? Idk help cause I’m sure I’m doing mental gymnastics to make it okay lol thanks! submitted by /u/katyasraspsandslaps [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi everyone, I am a sound designer, still in studies. One of the exercises we were assigned is replacing a complete audio of a scene of our favourite film with our own audio, including voicing the dialogue. We only get a video of a scene, we edit and mix all of our audio. Only two rules are that we should keep the dialogue as it's written, and also use different music than the one used in the clip. Now, I plan on voicing the actor myself, and also making my own music to match the clip, and also I will replace all of the effects with my own. What I was wondering is this: Can I publish this wor ..read more

WRC Stages and their copyright

I am looking to make a game that is inspired by the World Rally Championship. For those who don't know, the races typically take place on public roads. So my question is, if the races are on public roads, would it be a copyright violation to replicate those stages/races as long as I obviously don't use branding and anything like that? Will posting an artwork without a watermark on the internet make it public property?

I know this sounds strange and the answer seems really obvious, but I just saw an article about how a student copied an artist's artwork from the internet and put it on their university's exhibit. The artist reached out to the student to settle the problem of "plagiarizing" their artwork, but I saw someone in the comments under the article arguing that the artist should put a watermark and should have registered it in the intellectual property rights office. I was getting curious to know who's right here and since I'm obviously not knowledgeable on copyright laws I wanted to ask someone who d ..read more
