I topped my peppers and had aphids/critters on the new growth leaves. I sprayed neem oil (package did not say to dilute/mix) and it burned off all the new growth. Will the plants make it? Any suggestions?

Good day fellow veggie-gardeners! My two young zucchini plants aren't doing so well. The leaves are turning yellow and brown around the edges. They are in a brand new bed, about 25cm deep layered with wood, all-round soil mixed with some horse manure. The wood should allow good draining. The straw on top is to keep the water in the soil from evaporating. I water them every day (about 1L) but I'm not sure now if I'm overwatering them or that they dont get enough. A few days ago I mixed some filtered coffee ground with rain water to mix and fed them that.
What do you guys think? Any tips ar ..read more

I’m trying to figure out whether I can viably repurpose 144 16”x8”x1.5” concrete pavers to make a dozen 4’x4’ garden beds. The only way I can see to make the pavers stable standing on edge would be by sinking them about four inches into the ground. I would also have to take up the sod inside before adding compost, and I would lay a thick layer of wood chips between the beds. What do you think? Would those beds be any good for vegetables, or is it just a bad idea?
Thanks.

I know that fresh wood chips pull nitrogen where it contacts the soil, but will that happen through the fabric of a grow bag?
Have a couple dozen tomatoes in grow bags, and thinking of piling mulch around the outside of the bags to help with moisture retention once it heats up.
Will this deplete the soil or should I go a different route, like straw?

I'm in SWFL. We have three (or I guess four) types of apples that require fewer frost days. I'm looking at getting the anna apple tree from a nursery a couple of hours away.
My kids go through several apples a day and it's wildly expensive. I'm hoping to get a faster harvest, understanding that doesn't mean getting fruit tomorrow. But I WOULD like to set myself up for success. I can buy 15 gallon trees for $115 (I would only be able to afford two). Or I can buy 4 gallon trees for $45. I read that buying smaller ones and grouping them together may help them fruit more quickly. I have very litt ..read more

Hi guys I'm new to gardening and I just bought this drawf tomato a week or two back and the temperatures reached 22°C from 15°C day before. I also transplanted it the day before. It's flowering and my watering cycle has been disturbed. Do y'all have any idea what I should do and how much should I water it? Any concrete measurements would be great.
PS: I also have a couple of questions regarding my other new plants it'd be great to connect with someone with experience with coriander, spring onions, grape tomatoes, Serrano pepper and basil.

It's my first time trying to grow from seeds. Planted a bunch of herbs under a grow light (on for 12 hours, off for 12) in seed-starter soil about 3 weeks ago. Been doing a combo of spray-watering and bottom watering. Used fertilizer once. Things started sprouting after a week and were going well for another week but now things seemed to have stalled and a few of them are looking leggy.
I wanted to start these inside because I didn't want them getting munched by critters outdoors or zapped by the heat, but I'm wondering if they wouldn't be doing better in the sun? I realise I'm a little l ..read more
