Background This was my 3rd competition, I've only been a powerlifter for about a year and a half. My first meet was the first year of this same event. This was the second year. I started working with a powerlifting coach in my area in January. He was happy with my numbers but really helped fill in some of the cracks in my training. My volume increased 10x when I started working with him. Meet Day Being one of the largest guys in the event, I was in flight C. So I knew it was going to be a long day. My coach wasn't sure he was going to be able to make it because of a prior engagement, but he ha ..read more

Background: 3rd meet as a competitor. Started intermittently lifting throughout HS sports and college, but used football as an excuse to not take it super seriously. Been desperate for some competitive stuff in my life again and found powerlifting via a coach at my local gym. Haven't looked back! Started programming in February 2023. Tips/advice appreciated! Meet: Meet was in Austin, pretty local for me. Nice afternoon start time. Started the week prior at about 282lbs and wanted to compete sub-275 so I cut for the first time, really. Ended around 269, comfortably underneath, re-fed with some ..read more

To those who reached thirty after powerlifting in their twenties...

Is it just me or us guys in our thirties just get exhausted easily and we take way longer to recover? I ultimately decided to reduce my training volume. I hated that, but I've been failing to finish my squat and pull workouts because keeping a full time job while also training has proven to be hell. Is it because I'm now 32 years old? Thanks. submitted by /u/Teacher_Of_Strength [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
