What could be causing the patchiness in my lawn? Could it be due to the removal of the tree and grinding of the stump, which resulted in wood chips? Last year, I began working on my lawn (Kentucky bluegrass), and by fall, it was looking great. I seeded both during the spring and summer. I didn't seed this summer because I knew I needed to remove a large tree infected with emerald ash (the previous owners hadn't treated it). Since I was away for work, it took a couple of weeks to completely clean up all the wood chips (filled 9 large trash bags; it was a massive tree). I applied pre-emergent a ..read more

Hi there, I've received my soil test results and summarized them in the table below. What do you think of these results? I'm ready to buy the necessary supplies. Is there a recommended sequence for addressing the macro nutrient deficiencies shown? Any other thoughts on these results would be appreciated.

Hello! We have been in our house in Southern CO for 2.5 years now and 2 summers. Our first summer our grass was growing fine until I think I burned it with liquid Fertilizer I sprayed on the lawn. Since then our grass has been growing sporadically. This is will be our third summer and I want to try to get our lawn back to normal. We have tried to aerate the lawn and put grass seed down last summer but it still is only growing in patches. We did find some mushrooms growing in the lawn and I think we may have a grub problem. In what order do I treat the lawn? Put treatment down for fungus, grub ..read more

I am wanting to fertilize, dethatch and aerate my lawn this summer. Including when to mow, what order would it be best to do it in?
I read that you can dethatch and aerate in the same day as long as you dethatch first, is this true?
And is it the same order for both spring and fall?

In laws told me they don’t water their lawn ever for 20 years now. They don’t have a manual sprinkler or sprinkler system. They said it’s not necessary with the climate and rain they get. They have the leaves removed once a year and have a company fertilize. Their grass is always pretty and green. How is this possible?

Got sod put down about 3 weeks ago. Curious how it's looking.. Looking for any tips / pointers to get this looking better and keeping it green!
I've been watering heavily for 2.5 weeks. For week 3, I've started to move my watering schedule from 2 times a day to every other day. When it was delivered it was already fairly long maybe 5". I did the first cut this week at the highest setting. New lawnmower and unfortunately, I had the bag on and was planning to bag it, but it was still plugged so ended up mulching. It is making the lines extra pronounced.. not sure if that's any issue. I went out ..read more

Went to a garden supply store and he recommended this Lebanon 16-25-12 Mesa. Should I throw that with the N being so high.
Or Should I buy potash and phosphate and just throw those down. Any help is great ?

Idk if I have the money right now to resod. Also I’m 4.5 months pregnant so I don’t have the ability to do that myself anyway.
I really want to put rock or sand and pavers under the balcony area and then make the grass nicer on the rest of the lawn. I have a dog who does go out here but I’d be willing to walk her to potty more if it means a nicer lawn.
It also has a ton of insects and slugs (seems like more than a normal lawn would have)
I also don’t have a sprinkler system.
Where do I start?
Can someone give me a step by step starter guide to what I should do first and what to buy? Thank ..read more
