Masai Mara was unlike any destination we had visited before. From the luxury lodge to the safari- this beautiful destination exceeded all of our expectations. After seeing the reviews for Masai Mara, Kenya on TripAdvisor as one of the the top five conservation areas in Africa, we knew that this was the place visit.  We have visited beach resorts, cities, and even mountainous ranges, but never a safari park; and I especially had never been to Africa. We had also always wanted to attempt to see Africa's Big 5 - which is an elephant, lion, leopard, water buffalo and rhinoceros. All of the ..read more

Our yearly trip to Canada typically includes visiting my family in British Columbia and spending time there for a week. This time though we thought, let's explore Canada! My husband had only been to the Okanagan Valley (where I grew up), Vancouver and Toronto. And myself, I had been to the same plus Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise when I was much younger. So, after a bit of research we decided on a road trip from Calgary to Banff to Moraine Lake after which we would drive to the Okanagan. After landing in Calgary, we picked up our Jeep and headed straight to Banff. What a stunning little ..read more

Wedding Wear: What I Wore

With a suitcase filled with just clothing for the wedding, how could I not post about what I wore to the different wedding events in Thailand. The events began with a welcome dinner to which I chose an Asymmetrical Lace BCBGMAXAZRIA dress. My husband actually spotted this while we were shopping in The Dubai Mall and I had to try it on! As soon as it was on I knew that it was the perfect dress for the event. I wore my Alexander Wang tie-up black heels with diamond, gold and pearl drop earrings, and carried a bamboo bag which goes with everything! For the mehendi the next afternoon, I wore ..read more

The final leg of our trip was to Phuket. The wedding we were attending was in beautiful North Phuket at the Angsana Laguna Resort. This resort was absolutely stunning. Right by the ocean, the hotel featured a pool the wrapped around the resort, a beach club with a separate pool with DJ for adults, spacious rooms, and of course beautiful views. These were our days: Wake up > Have breakfast > Go to the Pool (maybe-most likely have a drink) > Go to a wedding event (have lunch) > Go to the pool (have drinks) > Go to a wedding event (have dinner) > Go to the after party For ..read more

Out of the 3 locations we went to in Thailand, Chiangmai was my favourite. A beautiful city with the feel of a town, it was clean, not as busy as Bangkok with great restaurants and food. We spent 2 great days in Chiangmai. The day of our arrival, we needed some chill time so stayed in at our hotel - the Shangri-La. We relaxed by the pool and found a nice spa across the road from the hotel - the Plearn Spa. Decorated beautifully, we had leg and foot massages, head massages and even full body massages. I recommend their leg and foot massage - it was amazing and at great prices too (only $11 ..read more

Our first trip for 2018 was to beautiful Thailand! We had been planning to travel around East Asia since last year. When we received a destination wedding invitation to Thailand, we were able to combine it with our holiday. Along with this, our good friends from the USA were also planning to attend the wedding and were able to come on a 10 day holiday with us. We started the trip in Bangkok. We took the red eye from Dubai and arrived in Bangkok at 11am and made our way to the Banyan Tree Spa Hotel where we spent 3 nights. One of my favourite hotel chains, The Banyan Tree Spa Hotel featur ..read more

No news. No shoes. This is the way of life at Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives. A gorgeous resort located 20 minutes away from Male by a boat, Gili Lankanfushi is a dream. We took a 2am flight into Male from Dubai. Just 3.5 hours, we slept most of the way and landed in the morning. From the airport -which is right next to the ocean, we got on a speedboat at which point we were asked to take off our shoes - no news, no shoes. As we approached the island, the first thing we saw were the beautiful overwater villas on top of stunning turquoise water. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by ..read more

Dinner at Ruya Dubai

Food. Wine. Company. Add to that great ambience and it makes for the perfect evening. We recently went to Ruya Dubai for dinner after seeing that it had won Best Middle Eastern Restaurant at the What's On Awards, Dubai. Located on the marina at the Grosvenor House hotel, Ruya opened about 1.5 year ago but we had never seen it - even though we live close by, since it's a bit hidden behind the hotel. The restaurant is set up with Middle Eastern style contemporary decor. It features an open kitchen concept and a beautiful bar on the terrace. Another feature I absolutely loved was the large ..read more

Every year for our anniversary we try to go on a quick getaway or a staycation. For our 6 year anniversary this year the hubby planned a stay at Raffles Dubai. You might know Raffles Dubai as the pyramid hotel, it is currently also the number 1 hotel in Dubai as per Trip Advisor so it was at the top of our list of places to stay. As you enter the hotel the first thing you see is a stunning waterfall, a beautiful lounge and the elegant reception. We were treated to a cup of Arabic coffee as we checked in, and then were escorted to our suite by our check in assistant. My jaw dropped as we ent ..read more

Before moving to Dubai I never had a problem with my hair. It was thick, shiny and manageable as long as I was consistent with my hair oil treatments and not using too many heat styling tools. About 3 months after I moved to the warmer climate, I noticed that my hair was beginning to thin even though I was still oiling my hair regularly and keeping styling tool use to a minimum. My hair wasn't as strong as it use to be, it was getting oily very quickly, and it was starting to fall out more than usual. At first I didn't pay much attention to this as I figured that my scalp and hair was jus ..read more
