Most accessible song

What would you consider to be the most accessible progressive rock/metal (or, uh, other subgenres of prog…ska?) song? A song that still has complexity, craziness and fun, but would make even a hardcore Taylor fan want to hear it again? submitted by /u/ElginLumpkin [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The exceedingly strange & distinguished - & also somewhat diabolical-sounding - »dominant seventh sharp ninth« chord.

It's most striking appearances, though, are purely as a standalone chord, for the sheer sound of it in it's own right - which I've heard described (l've long-long. forgotten by whom, though!) as a 'metallic funk' (not 'metallic' as in the sense of Heavy Metal, but for that characteristic kindof 'ringing' sound that it has). It appears in that capacity _rhythmically in Deep Purple — And the Address (organ) Black Widow — Come to the Sabbat (organ) Jimi Hendrix — Purple Haze (electric guitar) The Beatles — Taxman (electric guitar) Brain Ticket — Black Sand (organ) And the goodly Sir Brian pl ..read more

Cool song with ridiculous vocals. Could be considered wildly corny but I think the bassline and brass instruments make it feel like you’re tripping in a casino in Las Vegas. Regardless enjoy this song submitted by /u/fliberals69_v7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Nektar - Discussion

My brother showed me Nektar around two years ago after I got into ELP and Camel, and their album Evolution, which I kind of found corny at first, grew on me so much and every song just hits. Going back, some of their songs off of the Journey to the center of the eye, recycled, etc albums are so good. I particularly enjoy Nelly the elephant, recycled, it’s all in the mind, etc. but my favorite songs are off of Evolution. What do yall think about Nektar? submitted by /u/fliberals69_v7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Awesome and passionate song sung by a very soulful singer - Steve Gould. No doubt prog fans would enjoy this. Just a cool lesser known band with their first few albums revolving around the gimmick of “no guitar”, only keyboard lead. Amazing voice and awesome song overall. Hope yall enjoy submitted by /u/fliberals69_v7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
