I have been wanting to read this since 2020. But i believe books find us... This one allowed me to up only last week... The Holocaust and related narratives are always agonising. But it also propagates, this too shall pass. They survived and we are here today... The book is well written, allowing us to connect with only the main characters but with each one of them. There is pain and then there is act of fate (or faith as you would like to infer).  The hero of this story is not Lale or Gita or Cilka. Or the umpteen nameless people who were killed. The Good Earth, written by Pearl S Buck, is 90 years old as of now. The writing therefore is not something we are used to. It is dry and one-dimensional.
