Hello listeners, It’s been some time since my last confession, I mean, podcast. Today marks the Australian Summer Solstice, so it’s time to turn the page, welcome new light and look forward to a new decade. Despite my absence the world of Goth continues to turn and we can reflect on the year just gone with some guests in an unconventional format. The show is usually interview based, but being that I have not had a show for over 6 months, let’s cram in a few of my favourite Goths in one episode. They are all women, they are all strong individuals who have successful projects with much more to ..read more

Necromancy Radio – Sonia Zadro – Hotel Interview #30 2019

An unexpected find and a joy to listen to. I’m talking about a band called HOTEL. An Australian outfit based in Sydney and a short but sweet interview with their vocalist and lead guitarist, Sonia Zadro. They’ve just released their first EP; The Russian Glasshouse, which consists of 5 tracks and sounds pretty much like a film noire soundtrack. It’s a combination of sultry, synthy and monotone vocals that sounds like Lebanon Hanover meets a Tarantino film score. The other band members consist of Alyce Brandner, Loni Cooper and Ryan Adamson. Sonia often demos the songs she writes with Rya ..read more

An unexpected email from Nick Schultz found me preparing an interview with legendary frontman of The Faces of Sarah just before I went to the UK in April. I know, it’s June. However! You will now know that The Faces of Sarah released a new album in February called ‘Memorium’. If you are still tuning in to my show, you will know, that for some reason Necromancy Radio manages to attract some lovely people, artists with major kudos as well as myself being able to get away with saying anything I want…. because it’s my show, and not yours. Formed in London in the late 90s out of a shared love of ..read more

Formed in August 1991 by Simon Treen, Neil Ash & Pete Finnmore and shortly joined after by Simon Manning [Felo-de-se] and taking their name from a song by the band The March Violets, Children on Stun appeared to enjoy a relatively large amount of success in a short period of time. The band’s first gig took place at “The Crypt” in Hastings. In the same year, the band also recorded their first demo,”Elegance”. Treen left within a year of the band forming. The Stun also made an appearance in Mick Mercer’s second gothic Rock book on the gothic rock genre, boosting the band’s popularity furth ..read more

Rain Children are a wide lens, cinematic expression of Gothic music, both contemporary and nostalgic. They combine classic songwriting with a tension and drama that is uniquely their own. Rain Children, Stuart Harbut and Gina Stone met via social media during April 2017, when Stuart was searching for a singer and writing partner. Through a friend of a friend they were introduced and started working on songs straight away. This Silent Game was the first born and the duo have never looked back. NECROMANCY RADIO – KING DUDE – INTERVIEW #26 2019

Sometimes you listen to an album and you just want to be able to have a conversation with an artist like King Dude. Born Thomas Jefferson Cowgill, King Dude is an American singer/songwriter who walks his own path, nods to bands like Death in June, The Birthday Party and singers like Tom Waites and Leonard Cohen. Performing as King Dude since 2010, he is now touring his seventh album ‘Music To Make War To‘. It’s an album about how we are at war everyday – it’s all around us. It’s constant. This interview is probably the most unstructured conversation that didn’t really need me to ask too many ..read more

This week on Necromancy Radio, I interview Australian witch and musician, Wendy Rule. Wendy is about to launch ‘Persephone’, the new double-album from this visionary songstress and is the culmination of over twelve years work, and although drawing on Wendy’s musical journey over the past 2 decades, is unlike anything that she has done before. This beautifully evocative retelling of the Ancient Greek myth of the Goddess Persephone’s descent into the Underworld is almost like an opera, designed to guide the listener through this ancient tale of the cycles of Nature. With subtle textures that ..read more

This week on Necromancy Radio we chatted with Sweeney Deville, the guitarist from the band The Killbrides. Based in Birmingham, England, The Killbrides have been working together since their first experimental release early 2016, Traditional Ash. They met via Facebook, as Sweeney and Jamie had both been in different projects, Sweeney from The Acid Ballet and Jamie being influenced by emo punk sounds of the early 2000’s. Their interests are a combination of The Cure and Sisters of Mercy with a lot of screamo in there as well. It’s a bizarre combination, however their signature sound is unique ..read more
