Women often approach me for manual lymphatic drainage (or MLD) treatment during pregnancy. It seems to appeal to women around this time in their lives particularly as they experience fluid retention for the first time. Or perhaps it is just because of MLD’s reputation for being an incredibly relaxing and calming massage. MLD was first developed by Dr Emil Vodder and is a soft tissue massage which consists of light pressure applied in a specific way to coax the lymphatic system to work as effectively as it can. Movements are circular in nature, gently stretching the skin in a slow rhythmic way ..read more

Eucalyptus – one of Australia’s gifts to the world…and aromatherapy In aromatherapy, the essential oil obtained from Eucalyptus globulus is a treatment for respiratory issues. In addition, it is used as an antiseptic, antispasmodic, decongestant, diuretic and stimulant. It has cooling properties, which gives it deodorising characteristics and it helps fight migraines and fevers. This cooling capability also helps with muscle aches and pains. However, it should be avoided by people with epilepsy. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at the tree and find out about some of its other uses. Euca ..read more
