I just received a job offer in Russia for a US-based multinational company. I applied in the first place because I m not that experienced and the position is hard to get in other countries. How would this look on my CV? Would I have any problems if after years I want to work somewhere else and climb the corporate ladder? submitted by /u/Elio_Heg [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

McKinsey Solve Game.

I literally forgot to round my numbers in my calculations in the second part of the test (RedRock) because it was my first time taking the test and I was already kinda nervous. I didn't know if it was mandatory to do all the calculations in-game, and I did but I forgot to round the decimals or whatever. ? is it bad? Like, even if I did solve them correctly, would they disqualify me for not rounding the numbers? submitted by /u/ThinArtist8663 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi Guys I'm a qualified CA/CPA in my home country. Working with a Big4 firm for almost 6 years now and have started hating it to the core (pretty much like a major percentage of others on this Reddit). Prior to getting into accounting, I had always been inclined towards technology and have been considering revisiting that interest. People who are working within the industry, can you please guide me whether any of the following could give me competitive advantage in landing a role within the industry considering I don't have background education like Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or ..read more

I started the role of a Customer Journey Manager, and I will be working with questions like segmenting unsatisfied customers, finding root cause for their unsatisfaction, proposing strategies, The second project is about proposing a new customer journey (customer buys our product, and the flow from when they to replace their existing products with new one is unclear). Customers gets tons of notification, they don't know how to replace spare parts of their existing products, technician have to be dispatched to help them which is costly etc. My boss has asked me to help them propose a new custo ..read more

Words of advice from a medium level Consultant

I figured might be worth writing this and I hope others find it helpful especially the young ones. I've got about 13 years consulting working at a director level for mid tier company that does technology for nonprofits. Fwiw, my pay is $146k a year. (No bonus ?) It's fine overall. Here's some wisdom from that time Travel gets old. Pretty fast. Don't turn everything down, but in your eagerness to please, don't take everything on. Seniors will use this to dump on you, and you'll quickly burn out. A lot of consulting groups pitch the moral good of their org. It's 95% cap. It's a job. If you lik ..read more

Specific role: Client Service Associate - happy to hear your experience working in other roles as well I'm in the interviewing process with Third Bridge and wondering about your experience working for the company, especially from someone who has to relocate from somewhere else to Hong Kong? Also, were you able to put aside any savings with the income you make with Third Bridge? I heard Hong Kong is crazy expensive. submitted by /u/teddypicker1025 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m starting an engagement very soon. I was told from the client the budget is X a month. Does that mean it’s fixed price? He then said we would still need to send timesheets regularly, doesn’t that mean it’s T&M? He is the middle man between myself and the end client. submitted by /u/ThrowRA91010101323 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Failed upwards.. too far? Advice

TLDR: I’m an incompetent dodo bird, but been around long enough/worked hard enough to be looking at a leadership promotion that I am not b qualified for, nor do I want. Is it possible to stick around in consulting without taking on more responsibility? 7+ YOE 29M, been in consulting my whole career (mix between implementation & process improvement/strategy ops at boutique firm). I am an extremely average consultant. I am also a dumbass. So just to be average, I have had to work my ass off. Because of this, I’ve put all of my effort into just completing the tasks at hand, and have never ca ..read more

Constantly thinking about work?

Unlike many others on this sub, I don’t feel that my hours are incredibly unreasonable (almost always less than 55 per week), however, I find that I am constantly thinking about my job or things related to it even when I’m “clocked out” so to speak. Whether it be work for a project I’m currently on, fear that I forgot to complete some mundane admin task or timesheet submission, or worrying about training and skill development to help my career progression, I feel like work is constantly in the back of my mind. Wondering if anyone else feels this way? I feel like part of this comes from the fa ..read more
