My mom has Alzheimer's, and has begun to wonder, and we are working on getting 24h care, but if she decides to go out at night, and the caregiver is asleep, we need some kind of alarm. I know there are some that are timed, but I don't want to rely on her leaving the door ajar too long for it to go off. I know you can also turn them on and off, but that relies on the caregiver remembering to turn it on and off. What I want, but can't seem to find, is one that will arm at like, 830, and disarm at 6, automatically, without needing to use an app to do it. My google-fu has failed me and I can't se ..read more

Hi , My parents home keeps having things stolen, from the yard , and even in front of the house . It is fenced in but they broke down a door and I keep having this issue Looking to buy a system but have a few concerns. ideally I want it to be connected to a dedicated screen (even if it’s something cheap) some reliable amount of saved storage so it can be saved no monthly fees for a service (even if that means a higher initial cost) can handle a bit of a distance from the main house , as the property has a yard between the house and garage (200-300 ft separation) and ppl break into the garage ..read more

Someone just tried to open my locked door at 730 pm. I live in an apartment. My friend looked through the peep hole and said it was two “kids” wearing black hoodies with hoods up and black back packs. She said it looked like they went upstairs when they were leaving. It was a bit of a racket when they tried to open it, usually her big burly husband does stupid shit to scare us and we thought it was that, but it wasn’t. What do you think this was about? What should I do? submitted by /u/Dull_Bobcat_7706 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My wife and I just recently bought a new house and it has an old security system already in place (here). I'm not sure what model it is, but I am looking to get a cheap home security system that can operate on the same wiring if possible. We do not know the codes for the current system and would like to see if the current one meets our needs if anyone can tell the model number from the picture. submitted by /u/AbbreviationsOpen917 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! As the title reads i just need a decent security system, just 3 cameras with audio, that can be monitored via app, my boss is from the US and I'm from Europe, he just wants cameras set up in a small office we work, which he can sometimes monitor through an app. Any recommendations? I hear a lot about Reolink, would they be the safest bet for this situation? Thanks. submitted by /u/pepporetar [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Didn’t have my system on power surge protection and nvr is fried. I turned off my front door motion alerts as moths would set it off at night or the wind during the day, no matter how much I adjusted. Looking for recommendations for a POE system that has AI motion detection or other alert system that works well. submitted by /u/HockeyDave13 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello, I'm looking for a WiFi camsystem for my elderly mother's house entrance and garden. Further information about the scenario: Camera 1: (wlan) would have a separate power connection and should be installed under the canopy of the front door and would have to film frontally, about 6-7 meters to the property entrance. Camera 2: the entire garden, if possible without a separate power connection. (also wlan) the most important thing: home base/monitor it should not be played back on the cell phone but on a screen in the living room when an alarm occurs. So it should react within 2 seconds so ..read more

Is Ademco Box Easy (diy) To Replace ?

Recently moved into a place with a 1990s Ademco box. It looks torn up from what can tell, but I am wondering if with my basic associates degree in computer repair I could tackle the job myself. Another thing is knowing that the wiring to the window and door sensors has not been damaged. It has three door sensors and 6 window sensors. I don't know where the horn is located. Likely in the attic accessed by the garage. submitted by /u/Original_Stuff_8044 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I just moved into a single family rental in a large city where B&E is common. Overall, my neighborhood is pretty safe, but I work long hours and want the peace of mind knowing my stuff is secure. I can be gone as long as 14 hours while at work, and most of the time I am always on the move, or in a sterile environment where I cannot look at my phone or stop what I am doing once I have started for 1-2 hours...with that said, I feel I need active monitoring, not something like Ring where I am the one doing the monitoring. I have looked at vivint, simplisafe, and ADT...xfinity is not offered ..read more
