Snoqualmie Pass might not be far from Seattle, but that just proves you don’t have to go deep into the boondocks to get beautiful scenery for your engagement session. I loved that these two were up for getting out in the cold for some glorious winter sunshine ..read more

2022 HIGHLIGHTS - A YEAR IN REVIEW

I wanted to get this up around the New Year, but with two wild, wonderful little boys at home, things have been BUSY around here. Busy in a good way though - so many celebrations to document, combined with carving out time for personal and family time - something that’s too easy to let slip by! 2022 saw me covering some serious mileage around the globe and country. I travelled back to one of my favorite wedding venues in France (and by far the most stressful travel experience I’ve ever had, thanks to a rental car strike), a handful of trips to my happy place, for weddings or anything else: the ..read more

2020 HIGHLIGHTS - A YEAR IN REVIEW

2020 was the best year ever! Ok, I’d imagine not many of us said that. I think we all thought 2020 would be a huge year … just in a slightly different way than it ended up being. In my 13+ years of photographing weddings, this was perhaps the wildest year yet. Like most of you, the Flynn fam had some high highs and low lows. With most of my full weddings moving to 2021, I was lucky to get to enjoy more time at home with my wife, 3-year old, and pup. Now that we’re expecting our second baby any day now, and after unexpectedly losing our beloved dog around Christmas, that time running through sp ..read more

COLORFUL, FRESH WEDDING AT CARNATION FARMS
Ryan Flynn Photography Blog

Between their engagement session in the ivy- and cobblestone-covered streets of Boston, to their stunning wedding at Carnation Farms, Kelsey & Patrick seriously know how to pick a good location. Carnation Farms sits on this beautiful hillside overlooking a rolling valley and the Cascades. With that setting, and Steve of Sinclair & Moore’s timeless, organic floral and design, this was one of my favorite weddings in Washington this year ..read more

2019 - A YEAR IN REVIEW

The end of an era … or just the decade, but still. Same same. 2019 was a year where I felt like I had so much freedom to be present in my couples’ weddings in the best way - to really be in the moment and experiencing honest, real, important emotions and relationships. More than anything else, that’s what I want to document and preserve: the real life, sometimes messy, sometimes imperfect, but always beautiful moments. Opening up a new decade with more gratitude than ever to the people who allow me to tell part of their story ..read more

A HEARTFELT AND COLORFUL ROSARIO RESORT WEDDING

Where do I start with these two … with their day in general. I’m instantly happy every time get on the ferry to Orcas Island, it’s that kind of place (someday we’ll build a cabin there … someday) Even more so when it’s for a wedding planned by the always lovely Valley & Co. - as if being fantastically detailed planners, designers, and florists (the fresh, seasonal florals they created for this day were amazing!) wasn’t enough, they always bring this sense of positivity and peace to every event. Which really fit in perfectly with this couple, Lauren & Ben. They’re the sort of people th ..read more

BLOCK 41 WEDDING IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE

Taylor & Jeff most likely win the “most fun” award … or possibly the “biggest smartasses” award. Either way, my kinda people. They managed to have a wedding day at Block 41 that was both stylish and elegant, and lights-blaring music-blasting raging fun, without breaking stride. I loved the maroon velvet jackets the bridesmen wore, and the pomegranate-laden garnet and gold tablescapes and florals created by Floressence and Wonderstruck Event Design. The “pixel stick” rainbow colored lights were a seriously fun addition to the reception - they made for such a colorful dance floor (and so fun ..read more

WOODSIDE FARM WEDDING ON ORCAS ISLAND

This little (vaguely) orca shaped island is a slice of heaven. Woodside Farm on Orcas Island is an incredible hidden gem. From the beginning Mollie & Christoph wanted their day to be less about all the details, and more about bringing family and friends together from across the globe (literally) and spending time with them on beautiful Orcas Island. Their people gathered around them on the rocky point as they said their vows, danced the hora with them (alllways my favorite!) and then looked out over the water as the last light of the day lit up the mountains and waves. That last bit was sp ..read more

SANTA LUCIA PRESERVE WEDDING

The Santa Lucia Preserve is a stunning 31-square miles of pristine rolling fields, oak trees, and redwood forest, just minutes from Carmel, California. Anna & Rasmus’s wedding in the Preserve was perfectly designed and planned by Sinclair & Moore, whose florals and details artfully balanced with the naturally stunning surroundings. Their intimate wedding ceremony took place in a redwood grove, encompassed by the towering old growth trees of the Preserve. There’s something amazing about coastal California’s light - getting to photograph weddings (especially those sunset couples’ portra ..read more

2018 HIGHLIGHTS - A YEAR IN REVIEW
Ryan Flynn Photography Blog

2018 was, in the best (and sometimes hardest) ways, a real heckin’ rollercoaster of a year. We kicked off the year with the birth of our first child, which was a bit of a game-changer, to put it mildly. Weddings, portraits, engagement shoots, and family sessions (which I love even more, now!) kept me super busy all year, bouncing around the northwest, from Idaho to the San Juan Islands, along with spending a lot of time on the east coast, Colorado (forever favorite) and down south. It’s taken me ages to put this post together, and in the end I have to hold it with a bit of an open hand. There ..read more
