The Perfect Turkish Breakfast
It's Not You, It's Brie
by Kirstin Jackson

Turkish breakfast, husband and mom-in-law style. Turkish breakfast recipe! My favorite breakfast of all time. Why? At least 2 different types of cheese. Olives. Jam. Great bread. Vegetables (cheese and veg for breakfast are both underrated in the U.S. in my opinion). And you toss it all on a few plates and share it with the entire family. There are many ways to make this breakfast, but this one includes the must-haves, plus a few extra flourishes, courtesy of my Turkish mother-in-law and husband. Make while California ? are still looking fabulous. 1 serving Ingredients: 1 egg .7 ounces tomato ..read more

3 Summery Cali Wines on my Table Now
It's Not You, It's Brie
by Kirstin Jackson

Summer wines for me are refreshing, light, as relaxed as a beach read, and good with barbecue and easy meals. (Unless you are serving and in that case I’ll take whatever you’re pouring yay and thank you.) My reds are often chill-worthy, and rarely darker than a Syrah. My whites are generally frisky and unoaked. My rosés, well, all they have to do is show up. Three wines in particular have charmed me this summer. One is made by a friend of mine whose wines I’ve mentioned here before, another caught my eye because I’m a sucker for Italian whites grown in California, and another because, who doe ..read more

It's Not You, It's Brie

Southern French whites & Etna rosé ❤️ cheese Every summer I get stuck on a few wine that are amazing for cheese pairing that I can’t get out of my head. Last summer it was Lambrusco (though who am I kidding, I’ve got 2 bottles chilling in my fridge now). This summer, it’s southern French white wine & Etna rosato (rosé). This summer’s pairings were inspired by the crazy amount of classes I taught in June for which I tasted through an insane amount of cheese and wine to make sure I had the perfect pairings for my clients. Because someone’s gotta do it. Two wine and cheese pairings stood ..read more

It's Not You, It's Brie

French wine appellations are a fundamental part of the country's wine culture. They are a legally-defined and protected term used to designate specific regions, vineyards, and wines that meet strict quality standards. One of the most famous French appellations is Champagne. Located in the northeast of France, the Champagne region produces some of the world's most celebrated sparkling wines. Only wines produced in the region using specific grape varieties and production methods can carry the Champagne appellation. Another notable appellation is Bordeaux. The Bordeaux region, located i ..read more

Comté & Cherry Turnovers - Frozen Cherries & Puff Pastry, Go!
It's Not You, It's Brie

Comté & Cherry Turnovers On the weekends when I was growing up my dad would treat us to something special for breakfast. His turnovers, which I considered a magical feat of pastry art, were my favorite, and this recipe is a little ode to my father. The recipe calls for store-bought puff pastry dough, filled with a simple yet sultry filling of cherries dotted with Comté. I used frozen cherries but go fresh if you’re in the pitting mood. Be sure to give your puff dough from at least 3, and up to 24 hours to defrost in the fridge (not the counter), and leave enough time to stick your turnover ..read more

If I could have any cheese plate for Valentines Day, it would feature one of these 3 below pairings, or all of them. After years of sharing my tips on how to make a great cheese plate and how much you all love dairy, I’m confident that you guys can rock a cheese board. If you don’t quite yet feel comfortable, here’s a video of me explaining how to make a beautiful board from French goat cheeses. (But let’s be honest, you’re probably already tossing around cheeses and boards like Tom Cruise on Cocktail) But it would be fair to wonder, after years of me sharing hundreds of cheese pairings, whic ..read more

Pumpkin Cheesecake Cheeseball: Your Easiest Thanksgiving Dessert Ever
It's Not You, It's Brie
by Kirstin Jackson

Cheeseball recipe (1 of 1) Pumpkin Cheesecake… Cheseball. Your simplest Holiday Dessert Recipe, Ever. Some find cheeseballs too kitsch, like beehive hairdos or cone shaped bras. Others, picturing the tinted bright orange and preservative-packed cheeseball their aunt served during the holidays, think of a cheeseball as a unsavory concoction best only served next to smoke-flavored salami from Cracker Barrel. I, however, think kitsch has a holy place in heaven's decor, sixties relics are pretty awesome, and cheeseballs are one of the true delights of the holidays. S ..read more
