Hey there everyone, I appreciate this sub. Sending Love to you. My story: I started writing prolifically online in 2012 about life wisdom, transformation, healing, and spirituality. Guest-posting on favorite blogs of mine led to me becoming a co-owner of HighExistence.com in 2015. At HighExistence we published a great deal of wisdom & spirituality content. We created and offered mostly DIY courses, then later started creating psychedelic retreats and offering 1:1 coaching. (I started coaching/facilitating 1:1 and in groups in 2018.) In 2019 I started creating DIY courses under my own bran ..read more

Why should coaching courses teach business development?

Just curious about people’s thoughts on the topic, as I see many posts here, which in essence state “make sure your course teaches you how to sell and get clients” Surely the job of the coaching course is to help you become a good coach in terms of the competencies of coaching. I don’t see plumbers, chiropractors, hair dresses etc training include sales and marketing training, so why should coaching be different? Sales and marketing is a separate competence. If this gets included, why not include book keeping, financial management, understanding risk, compliance, health & safety, IT basic ..read more

Looking for suggestions on where to start!

I have been told my whole life I’d make a great life coach. Friends come to me about any and all topics. Most importantly I’m very passionate about helping people and about becoming a coach. I’m looking to make a very real change in my life and peruse life coaching but am very overwhelmed by where to start and all the options online. I have my BS in Psychology, however, my career as an adult is not psychology based. Cost is also a huge consideration as I don’t have 10’s of thousands to commit to programs I don’t know much about. Would appreciate any suggestions and excellent recommendations t ..read more

Hello, As a client of a life coach, I would like to hear some advice/perspectives from people here in this community. I paid $1000USD upfront for a 12 week program with a life coach (he usually charges up to $3000 but we negotiated a deal due to my current economic status). We have a ~90 minute phonecall once a week, and every few weeks we do a hypnotherapy session. He gives me a list of things that I have to do for 3 hours daily (meditate, affirmations, study, exercise, listen to a recording, mirror work etc.) which we talk about/reflect on during the phonecalls. For the last few weeks our c ..read more

Programme or course?

Hiya! I'm a newly qualified coach. Specializing in confidence and self-esteem coaching. I wanted to ask experienced coaches, where is the best place to focus my energy... Is it best to build a 12 week programme for clients, and have 12 1:1 sessions with individual clients? Or a 12 week group coaching programme? Alternatively, are courses useful? E.g. a 12 week pre-recorded course to educate clients and provide insight etc? OR a mix of both? E.g. 6 pre-recorded sessions and 6 1:1 sessions? As you can probably tell, I'm finding figuring out my 'output' and offering tricky. I have the knowledge ..read more

Is $250 per session too expensive?

Long story short, I’m physically disabled with spinal muscular atrophy, but I have a masters degree in pastoral counseling, along with 10+ years of preaching/speaking and counseling, I’m ordained, I’m a TEDx speaker. I just started my own business as a speaker and Life coach. I do not stick with religious clientele. I do both religious and secular. Before Covid, I was a hospital Chaplain intern which practices spiritual care, not pastoral care. The difference is spiritual care is more interfaith and is able to provide care to everyone. submitted by /u/Sam_Fisher30 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Being a business of one can get a bit lonely and overwhelming at times so I’ve been wondering about a group practice. Does anyone have one? If so, how do you like it, how do you divide the responsibilities, and how did you connect with your business partner(s)? Anything else I should know or resources I should check out? submitted by /u/Diantha504 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Prospecting Clients on Facebook Without Being Salesy

I'm in a group on Facebook where I've been active for a couple of years now with no return in mind, as I had no plans in transforming my knowledge into a potential business at that time. Now that I am looking to start coaching, I think I can help people there more thoroughly. I recently saw a post that I am confident I could have added a lot of value to. Not just responding to the actual post, but in a one-on-one session. I realized I had no idea how to go about offering my guidance without looking like a sales person. Should I answer the question and in the end say that I am open to discussi ..read more
