Comfortable Fashion (Clue: Not Just Leggings)

I wore jeans yesterday. It was probably the first time in about three weeks. And whilst I didn’t hate it because they were my favourite stretchy contour jeans from F&F at Tesco (the best for inexpensive but comfy jeans), I write this for you now wearing a pair of joggers. Because a comfortable waistband means everything to me right now. But in the spirit of trying to make more of an effort going forward, I’ve been looking for comfortable fashion options that will give me the easy wearing required for working from home but pieces that will also make me feel put together enough for an imp ..read more

Sophie’s Garden Transformation

Naomi Here! Although Sophie completed her garden transformation last year (and is currently able to enjoy the fruits of that labour during lockdown), I figured that with B&Q stores and other hardware / home renovation stores opening up around the country again this week that it would be nice to share some inspiration with you. I’m quite happy to have my garden office project to potter away on. So kick back, have a look at the beautiful outdoor space that Sophie’s created, and let me know in the comments of any outdoor projects you’ve got on the go at the moment. I’ll now hand you over to ..read more

The Lipstick Effect – Drugstore Makeup vs Luxury
Rock My Style | UK Daily Lifestyle Blog
by Charlotte O'Shea

The luxury beauty industry is not suffering as much as other sectors during the current global crisis. In times of financial adversity, consumers significantly reduce their spending on fashion, cars, holidays and other luxury big ticket purchases. However, the desire for something shiny and new (albeit considerably cheaper) is still very much evident. Known universally as “The Lipstick effect”, most cosmetics brands, at least for now, remain relatively unaffected by the devastating consequences the coronavirus pandemic will have on businesses around the world. I’m not here to suggest you buy ..read more

Health & Weight Loss

A friendly note: If the topic of weight loss is triggering for you, then maybe click away and wait for our next post. This story is shared from a personal perspective and is not intended to be taken as health advice. Weight loss seems to have become a taboo topic. I know it’s something we don’t talk about often on this platform. We’ve always intentionally placed more of an emphasis on healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. I feel like that’s the right approach to take. And I feel like, in general online, the idea of weight loss is discussed less and healthy lifestyles and body positivity ar ..read more

Beauty Pie Review – The Team’s Thoughts & Faves
Rock My Style | UK Daily Lifestyle Blog

Back in our Skincare Update, Becky mentioned some of the Beauty Pie products she was using and the comments came in thick and fast with requests for a Beauty Pie review. Fast forward and we’re finally here with one. Myself, Becky and skincare queen Charlotte are all Beauty Pie members and whilst this post may read a bit like a sponsored post by nature, we can guarantee that there has been absolutely no affiliation with Beauty Pie in any way to write it. It’s an honest, unbiased review of their products.  A few of you questioned how the concept worked, and rightly so because it’s a bit revolut ..read more

Easy Vegetables To Grow At Home
Rock My Style | UK Daily Lifestyle Blog

My copy of the book Grow Vegetables by Alan Buckingham is very sun-bleached and dog eared after two years of at-home veggie growing. Some forays were more successful than others. I’ve attempted to grow both from seed and from seedlings. I have zero long term experience or knowledge in this other than the faffing about I’ve done in my own tiny garden. But I can share with you my thoughts on easy vegetables to grow at home. Those that took barely any maintenance, weren’t overcome by pests and ended up feeding our family. There’s something really satisfying and exciting about taking the kids into ..read more

What’s On Your List?

I want to start this post by saying that I am so very aware that not everyone will have the luxury of time during this governmental lockdown. I have many a friend and family in the NHS or other keyworkers who are already being worked to the bone and can only see more of that ahead of them. We stood on our step tonight (the night before this post was published) and we whooped and clapped and banged pots in the only way we currently know how to say thanks. Truly. Thank you.    For some of us, we’re being called to work from home, in my husband’s case, stand down from work in an industry that h ..read more

Working From Home (Our Tips)
Rock My Style | UK Daily Lifestyle Blog

The very post I’m about to share was written by our much loved and missed colleague Lisa who’s off doing very fancy things with interiors these days. I was going to completely rewrite a post on working from home to suit the current climate. But to be honest, almost every single thing Lisa had to say is spot on, even today when millions of workers all around the UK are faced with working from home during the Coronavirus pandemic.  The one caveat I will add is that this post doesn’t tackle the issues of having to juggle working from home with children who are off school and without dedicated ch ..read more

The catalogue of memes hitting my WhatsApp groups has ramped right up lately. My favourite so far (aside from all the hilarious European self-isolation videos) has been “What a year this week has been”. I mean really guys… Have you ever known anything like the last seven days?    Well throughout the news announcements, self-isolation, illness and major business decisions that have occurred behind the scenes this week, the Rock My team have been working HARD. So allow me to explain to you some of the changes that have happened in the business in this last week(!) because there’s one in partic ..read more

How To Stay Calm In Times Of Uncertainty
Rock My Style | UK Daily Lifestyle Blog
by Naomi Liddell
4y ago
In my last post, the COVID-19 outbreak was something we all wanted to escape from (and we did a pretty good job of it for an afternoon). It was an unknown, a possibility and one that we all knew was serious, but until this week… I don’t think for me personally, it had really landed how serious it could get and how quickly. The words ‘uncertain times’ have been used quite a lot of late. And that uncertainty, paired with the possibility of hardships, whether in finances, relationships, childcare or otherwise, have created a level of anxiety that is palpable amongst many.    As a nation, we are ..read more
