I e been working retail for like 10+ years at this point and I'm trying to find a good pear of boots that are comfortable for standing all day. I have excruciatingly flat feet and despite repeated visits to a doctor's office nothing has helped and it feels like they are just giving me the run around. Anyways, looking for recommendations? I've googl s this before and saw Kuru? Has anyone used them? submitted by /u/Vulkhard_Muller [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Karen and her thieving kids visited my store today

I just had a crazy Karen experience. So, this mom and her two daughters one roughly 15 and the other probably around 10, get in line, and I wave at them and greet them, and the 15-year-old looks at me, gives me a dirty look and rolls her eyes. So, this is already flagged that the mom is allowing her to do that. they come up and I say “did you find everything OK?” And they ignore me. So, they start putting stuff on the counter and I start scanning so then she says “I have a question.” I’m like “yeah, what’s up?” She hands me two items, they are both the same type of item and one is marked for ..read more

So I work at a clothing store where I am from in Canada. And literally a keyholder came into work having bed bugs or mites or whatever lice and she literally didn’t tell anyone till halfway through and then she went home and literally so many of my coworkers that were working or freaking out, and the managers are trying to figure out what to do next because they have to close the store for like three days to disinfect everything or something. luckily I didn’t work, but it is really bad. So pretty much every company now has a rewards program/membership program. Same thing different requirements. If companies made it where it's basically like Costco and Amazon self serve stores. Having a membership entered into the system for people to be let in. If they chose so to add their banking info, so when they walk out with the desired items they will be charged. But for stores who do not offer just self service, have customer rating from employees. If someone is basically an ass, wants a discount, gets belligerent, aggressive etc. Have a 3 strike system, in any of the above plus some ..read more

So I just thought about this again since I haven’t actually been in retail for a few years. My AM was way too nice and I was working with him this night. A lady came in and grabbed a buggy 15 minutes till closing. Of course I let her know we don’t have much time left open and she says she’ll be quick. This lady walked UP AND DOWN every isle. I told her like 7 times to hurry up and to leave the store because it’s time to close. Rather than telling her to get out, he just told her to hurry up. We closed at 10pm. It was like 10:05 when she finally got to the register. She had an entire envelope ..read more

I’ve been working in Ikea for a year. I’ve been dealing with bullying from my colleagues since last October; that’s only just been dealt with. I received one warning last month because I didn’t call in sick. I’m now on part time sick leave and had an incident over the weekend where a customer was verbally abusing me. I didn’t come in on Sunday and admittedly overslept and didn’t call in (although I did inform the manager on Saturday). Anyways I wasn’t surprised when I received a warning for that today, however I also received another warning regarding my shortcomings with tasks although I don ..read more
