Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water.
How germs get onto hands and make people sick.
Feces (poop) from people or animals is an important source of germs like Salmonella, E. coli O157, and norovirus that cause diarrhea, and it can spread some respiratory infections like adenovirus and hand-foot-mouth disease. These kinds of germs can get onto hands after people use the to ..read more

Some Great Facts About Candles!
1. Some of the first candles were made by the Romans using animal fat very early on and were to be used to honour Artemis's birth (The Greek goddess of wild animals, the hunt, and vegetation and of chastity and childbirth) on the sixth day of every lunar month.
2. The candle's first burn is an important step to avoid tunneling. Your goal on a first burn is to fully melt the top layer of wax, evenly. If you do not, a “tunnel” will form in the center of the candle, creating a memory ring. Tunneling happens when the first-burn is not a long enough pe ..read more

African Black Soap is often just referred to as Black Soap, even though it isn’t always black. It can also be found under different names such as Anago or Yoruba Soaps, depending on the region that it’s made in. It can be in shades of brown and has bits and pieces of plants and dried peels, which give it a scrub type of texture. Like the name suggests, it is made in Africa, and the best kind to purchase is Fair Trade African Black Soap because it helps to ensure that proceeds from the product actually go back to help support the communities that make the soap.
It is made from only plant-based ..read more

Humankind has known since the beginning of time that aromas can directly affect us in many different ways. The enchanting aroma of a sweet flower can lift and calm our moods, while the intense aroma of peppermint or spearmint can refresh and invigorate us. Fragrances and memory have a direct connection as well. Sometimes a certain scent will instantly remind us of a place, time or person. That is one of the intents of signature perfumes and colognes. We’ve all heard people say how something like the men’s aftershave “Old Spice Aftershave for Men” reminds them of their father or grandfather, wh ..read more

Banning the sale of household pets on Kijiji to help stop puppy mills!
I’ve noticed a recent new program that I think is a great idea! Places like Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary, Brampton Animal Shelter, and many more responsible pet adoption places or sanctuaries are now showing “rehoming” on their facebook pages, when people can no longer look after their pets. Many times it’s because a senior has had to move into a senior’s residence, people have had to move to a new place where animals are not permitted or a number of other reasons. These precious fur-babies don’t have a voice in where t ..read more

I was simply blown away by the awesome reactions around the world with the Betty White Challenge. I think we could all agree that Betty would be absolutely thrilled with how people honoured what would have been her 100th birthday celebration. There are so many animal sanctuaries that deserve support and here are just a few of them.
The Saving Grace Animal Society has been an amazing rescuer of animals both big and small, domesticated and wild. Under their "What We Do" page it reads: "Saving Grace Animal Society was founded in February 2018 as an animal rescue and shelter, operating as a l ..read more
