Many people who graduated from university but didn't get high scores think that it automatically precludes them from further studies. If you have been working in a field for at least a year and ideally three+ years, you can get accepted at a wide range of university master programs (not just degree mills) if you're paying for tuition, which is generally far lower than undergrad tuition. If it's your money that you're putting on the line, then it's you who loses out if you don't complete the program. This improves your candidacy.
For example, if you're working as a copywriter, you could likely ..read more

With so many paths in life available it’s easy to be overwhelmed by analysis paralysis. I’ve often ruminated trying to determine the ideal path, agonized over my shortcomings and headwinds, then ultimately accomplished very little. I’ve replaced the idealistic “should” with the pragmatic “can” and it’s really helped me maintain focus on what’s within my control. By starting with what feels easy and doable I’m able to build accomplishment momentum more easily.

I wanted to share a nifty little trick that has helped me so much in my career. ?I keep an ongoing work journal that tracks all my projects, accomplishments, feedback from managers, and new skills I pick up.

The key is to spend just 5 minutes every week jotting down:
Projects completed
Cool new skills learned
Positive feedback received
Awards/recognitions
Trust me, you'll thank yourself later when it's ..read more

My fixed rate contract expired and the variable rate was over double what other companies were charging. I called and locked in a fixed rate for another year at the much better rate.
Life gets busy and with auto pay it’s easy to set it and forget it. But these companies will take advantage of you.

About 4 years ago, I rented a car for a work trip. I only used the car for about 3 hours. I left the aiport with it, went and did a quick job, came back to the airport and dropped it off. The drop off was after hours, so I took a picture of my mileage and dropped the keys in the dropbox. I had done this about a hundred times for work. Fast forward to about 3 weeks later, I got a bill for a 2 week rental, over $2k charged. I guess some scummy employee decided to take a joyride for a couple weeks and thought they'd get away with it, I don't know.. Well after weeks of emails fighting this, I thi ..read more

The wiring in my house is fairly chaotic so I don't know which circuits about half of the outlets and lights in the house are on. Yesterday I wanted to change the light fixture in the hallway. So I pointed my laptop camera at the turned on light, started a Zoom meeting between my laptop and phone, went downstairs to the breaker panel, and started guessing. Having a camera on the light in question saved me about 8 trips back and forth.
Obviously if I'd lost the meeting because I shut the wi-fi it would mean that my wiring was even more messed up than I thought.

If the metal pull part breaks off a zipper, it is so frustrating trying to close the bag. Get an old or cheap keychain and attach the circle part to it and voila! Good as new.
