The Capers and Friends benefit concert at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School on Dec. 21 was a joyous evening filled with performances that embraced the spirit of giving. Joined by special musical guests, the Capers spread holiday cheer and proceeds from the concert supported the Emily Whitehead Foundation. Merry melodies filled the air as the Capers (Amy Jo Belko, Diana Krause, Brett Albert, Shawn Evans, and John Hagyard) joined D.J. Matsko and the Philipsburg-Osceola Select Choir to present a collection of holiday favorites. Dennis Wood from WOKW Radio served as master of ceremonies for the ..read more

We had an incredible first-year experience participating in the TCS NYC Marathon on November 5! Our exceptional team consisted of first-time marathon runners and others who have run many marathons before. Each runner who chose to support the Emily Whitehead Foundation had a different connection to us, but they all ran with the same goal – to activate the cure for childhood cancer. The Emily Whitehead Foundation set up cheer stations to support our runners at mile 7, 16 and 19 throughout the course. We rang cowbells and held encouraging signs as we watched for our runners to come by. The energy ..read more

Today, Emily is 11 years cancer free! On May 10, 2012 our family received the news we had been praying for: No evidence of cancer cells could be detected in Emily’s bone marrow. The CAR T-cell therapy worked! Emily was officially cancer free. Every year since, as many of you know, we have celebrated this anniversary by taking a photo of Emily in our backyard to mark the years since being declared “cancer free”. Sharing this annual chalkboard photo with the world has been a cherished tradition. However, this year’s photo will be the last. As a family, we are no longer marking time by years sinc ..read more

On January 17-20, our team traveled to Miami, FL to attend Advanced Therapies Week 2023! It was a great opportunity to connect with other companies/organizations in the cell and gene therapies industry, and spread awareness about the work we are doing to support CAR T-cell therapy research and families.   Here are a few highlights of our week: To kick things off on the opening night of the conference, we held a special screening of the documentary Of Medicine and Miracles. We heard from many who attended that they cannot wait for their families to be able to see this film, as it demonstra ..read more
