Is possible to use cadblocks templates for the plan view look of components but maintain the manufacturer's 3D look.

My boss wants to use the CADblocks he did on AutoCAD and use it on our ceiling plan but we need to use a specific revit lighting fixture I've got from the interior designer because she will need the file eventually to do Archviz. Is it possible to modify the 2D plan view look of a downloaded lighting fixture from a manufacturing websit but maintain it's original 3D look? I can't seem to find a good tutorial on youtube on how to do this. submitted by /u/Potential-Song9484 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm currently writing my Thesis in a post grad course about BIM-enabled project management. I would need one more interview From a Profesional BIM manager to give me an interview. Or Just answer 5 question for my my thesis research Could somebody help me with that Issue? The questuons would be the folowing: 1, Why is BIM becoming more relevant in recent years? I'm interested in your opinion on the current and future relevance of BIM. 2, Is there a lack of standardized BIM utilization in the construction industry? Given the slower implementation of ISO 19650, especially at national and Europea ..read more

Hi there, I'm a BIM Manager at a medium-sized company and I've been looking at getting into Data Centre design and construction. I was wondering if anyone may advise me on what the best approach is - I don't have any experience but would like to learn more about it. Are there specific courses I would need to do prior to venturing into this sector? submitted by /u/anonimalistic [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello everyone, I am currently working on my dissertation entitled ‘Should we model everything?’. Essentially, the research dives into LoDs, and the feasibility and benefits of modelling every constituent part of a building. I would appreciate if you could fill out this survey – there are only three questions and won't take longer than a minute. (All replies will remain anonymous). Thanks in advance, S. https://forms.gle/YjELJPi1bgmPKKwn9 submitted by /u/_kota47 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Would anyone be so kind to guide me a bit about this? Have you worked for a GC coordinating BIM where they required this? Seems like its more a requirement for subs that actually go to the jobsite but do you need to have that even if you are remote? submitted by /u/Optimal-Confection-9 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Where does Coordination end and extra detailing work begin?

I'm a commercial GC. We coordinate all of our projects with Navisworks. Recently I am finding more and more routing issues in the construction docs we receive from the design team. I am used to resolving a handful of clashes by sliding pipe and ductwork around or furring out a wall here and there. My last two projects we have had to completely redesign the ductwork to resolve clashes with structure, then we've had to completely redesign plumbing and mech piping around our new ductwork layout. The common refrain from the architect when the various detailers ask for more money is "contractor to ..read more

AssetWise ALIM vs Datum360

Hi all, As the title suggests, the Project I am currently working on has asked me to compare Bentley AssetWise ALIM with a Datum360 package (including PIM/CLS/DDM360). In terms of managing engineering data, class library compliance and a digital twin, they both seem fundamentally the same. So I'm wondering if anyone has hands-on experience they could share? At this stage, we have a sub-consultant who would manage the Datum360 package. For AssetWise ALIM we would need to recruit ourselves and rely on Bentley support. I see this as a potential negative, given that the Datum360 sub-consultant ha ..read more
