This is why the main thing we must do is be a good role model for them’. Bearing in mind that teachers and families are the mirrors where children look to ..read more

Casa Tamarit

I must have walked past Casa Tamarit in Albalet de Sorells a dozen times without thinking of eating there; perhaps because it’s weekends only. It looks small from the outside, but once inside you find two very large dining rooms. The first is very tastefully decorated, with walls swarming with art. The other, clearly for overspill and events, is plainer. There is no daily menu and so you eat a la carte, and there are plenty of typical dishes such as Esgarret, roasted peppers and salted, dried cod, although with an individual flourish distinguishing it from the more typical examples of the sa ..read more

Bolos (Pardon my Valencian)

I hadn’t been to Bolos for about 30 years and so it was refreshing in this threatening, changing world to find that nothing had changed. In fact I’m pretty sure the waiters were the same; they were all in the twilight of their careers but maintaining that old school gentlemanly charm that seems to have disappeared in the eateries of today. The decoration is simple, but the open kitchen provides all the action you need to observe the eternal battle between man and fish. Furthermore, in the second of the two ample dining rooms you can find a display of underwater fauna to whet your appetite ..read more

And not only that but tripe, eels and fried fish, for an authentic trip down memory lane. But only on Saturdays, and only until 12 am. TrottersEels…not jellied, sorry You might not expect much success with such fare, and yet, every Saturday morning the Marxal restaurant is packed with punters. It’s situated in an industrial estate and caters to workers who want a copious meal and a bellyful of wine before going back to their factories as part of the lumpen proletariat that keep the country functioning. In a large room with photos of Valencia how it used to look, especially the central market ..read more
