A beekeeper was a big hit at the April 30 Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game, even though he was not wielding a bat. Matt Hilton, branch manager of Blue Sky Pest Control in Phoenix, Ariz., was summoned to Chase Field because bees began to form a colony on the netting behind home plate just as the game was about to get underway. Ben Hicks Ben Hicks, who with his wife, Sandy, raised nine children and had 19 grandchildren, passed away April 20 from head and neck cancer. He was 61. Hicks had been a pest management profession for more than 46 years, with the last 17 years serving as co-owner and operator with Sandy of Nashville, Ind.-based All Seasonal Pest Control. He had previously spent 22 years as proprietor of Michigan City Pest Control, which is now part of Franklin Pest Solutions. The Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s) recent decision to preempt state laws and prohibit companies from using non-compete agreements appears to be on hold for now. Less than a day after the FTC voted on April 23 to ban non-compete agreements for nearly all workers, pro-business groups filed lawsuits contesting the decision.
