A new survey conducted by the makers of SPILLERS™ earlier this year has confirmed the UK’s loyalty and passion for senior horses and ponies. The survey was completed by more than 5,000 owners and carers earlier this year. The results mirror the findings of the feed brand’s 2022 survey, reiterating just how much the nation loves their precious equine oldies. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) will be holding three disciplinary hearings in April 2024 – including one Veterinary Nurse Disciplinary Committee hearing and two Disciplinary Committee hearings. One of the leading veterinary groups in the UK, IVC Evidensia, has reported a new milestone figure of 8.6% during 2023, illustrating they have reduced antibiotic use by almost a third in the last three years. This new figure represents both systemic and local antibiotic treatments and prescriptions in outpatient care, reported as a percentage of the total number of patient visits during 2023. New measures to better protect the poultry sector from future avian influenza outbreaks have been set out by the government today (19 March). Under the changes announced there will be new requirements for all bird keepers - regardless of the size of their flock - to officially register their poultry on the national register by 1 October 2024.
