This year's theme, "31 Days of Terror Takes the Universe," is absolutely a tribute to the Universal Monsters and the classic Universal horror films of the early 20th century. Along with plenty of toys of the classic monsters you know and love you're also going to see quite a few of NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Universal Monsters figures. These guys have been out for a few years now but somehow I slept on them. I'm sleeping no more, though, and since grabbing some of the newer figures I've managed to pick up the whole series. It's quite fortuitous that NECA has ..read more

"I am... Dracula."
"I bid you welcome."
Welcome to 31 Days of Toy Terror Takes the Universe, the 2024 edition of 31 Days of Toy Terror! This year is the 12th year of 31 Days of Toy Terror so I decided to do something extra special for this countdown to the spookiest day of the year. This time we're focused on the Universal Monsters! These guys and gals are horror movie royalty and this year we're celebrating them all. To kick off the festivities this year we're starting with a look at NECA's Count Dracula in his Transylvania garb. Count Dracula isn't the first figure fro ..read more

I'm on a bit of a G.I. Joe: Classified Series review spree and today I'm checking out Carl "Doc" Greer, the original medic for the G.I. Joe team. Doc was a fairly prominent character in most of the various animated shows over the years and a memorable character in the original Marvel Comics run by Larry Hama. Doc's also often remembered for his death in Trucial Abysmia at the hands of a SAW Viper (hence all the comments at PulseCon about keeping the upcoming SAW Viper figure away from Doc), as he was killed alongside Crankcase, Heavy Metal, and Thunder. In the Classified Series ..read more

1988, 1989, and 1990 were some of the best years for action figures in the vintage G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line. I know there are quite a few "fans" who seem to have no memory of any figures past 1983, or 1985, or 1987, but Hasbro was still cranking out some really good figures during those years. It wasn't until 1991 that some of the sub-teams started to get a bit iffy (Eco Warriors and Air Commandos) and the basic figures started to have more neon that didn't fit in with the figures. 1990 has some great concepts and the accessories were incredible, far superior to what ..read more

Over the past two or three months I have purchased so many new DC Multiverse figures! The Toddfather has put out quite a few figures that have interested me (meaning Batman related heroes and villains, along with some general oddballs), so I've ended up with lots of new figures on my shelf. I don't review every DC Multiverse figure I get because sometimes I run out of things to say about characters like Batman and the Joker who I've reviewed dozens and dozens of times. When there's a newer or less common character, though, it's just more fun to review them. Today I'm chec ..read more

Back in July Four Horsemen Studios and their authorized retailers ran a special sale where all Cosmic Legions figures were 20% off. During that sale I managed to grab a few of the older figures I didn't have yet and catch up on the newest series, Outpost Zaxxius. Kalian Shunn was one of the figures I picked up and is probably one of my favorite Cosmic Legions figures of the year. Kalian Shunn (Kalie for short) is a bodyguard for the AEXOR3 company who keeps her real identity hidden. For a sci-fi themed character, Kalian Shunn checks so many boxes for me: She's wearing a ..read more

A weekend or two ago my wife and I took a daytrip to check out one of the Spirit stores within an hour or two of us and I ended up bringing home some really nifty Trick 'r Treat Figural Bag Clips from Monogram International. I've reviewed most of their Masters of the Universe bag clips in the past though I think this is the first time that I've reviewed one from another property. I really love how Trick 'r Treat has become such a staple of the Halloween season and Spirit stores are always a good place to find a Trick 'r Treat item or two. While Sam is always the most po ..read more

This summer was pretty filled with new G.I. Joe: Classified Series and I'm still making my way through them. Today I'm checking out Jinx, another new figure from the single packed main series. Well, Kim "Jinx" Arashikage, to be exact. You see, she's Storm Shadow's cousin and part of the Arashikage clan. I had the vintage Jinx as a kid (still do, too), but I actually prefer some of her later costumes like the Sigma 6, Valor Vs. Venom, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation versions. This one borrows pretty heavily from the vintage toy, sure, but we do get a couple new element ..read more

It was quite a surprise a few months back when McFarlane Toys announced they would be releasing a series of 1/6th and 1/10th scale Marvel statues and while I initially thought they would be something pretty easy to pass up for me, I did change my mind when I saw this statue of Deadpool on the shelf at GameStop. I've always loved the look of Deadpool and loved my Toy Biz Deadpool as a kid, so seeing this statue based on Wade Wilson's first appearance from the cover of The New Mutants #98 by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, I was quite intrigued. McFarlane isn't p ..read more

Today I'm checking out the third figure from the second series of Jada Toys' Ultra Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers figures: M. Bison! Originally known as Vega in Japan (a fact I didn't know until I was in Middle or High School and bought a copy of Street Fighter 2: The New Champions that had the bosses with their original Japanese names), M. Bison is the major villain of the Street Fighter universe and has recently returned to the series in Street Fighter 6. This figure is based on the classic depictions of the character, though. Well, at least the classic video gam ..read more
