Something a bit different today--a quick revisit. Been at least six years now since the .22 cal BAM B26-2 has seen the light of this blog. Thought I'd follow up with how it's been going. Forgive me as I'm not finding all the right words to express myself this morning, but I'm plugging along anyway. If you've followed this blog, you'll recognize that I've long been fascinated by the mechanicals and the ergonomics of dedicated target-type guns. The precision accuracy coupled with the adjustability of the stocks and grips made an impression. There's a uniquenes ..read more

So many of these modification projects are based on fixing perceived shortcomings. When I load the CP1-M using the single-shot tray--especially with wadcutters--it helps to point the barrel downward, then drop the pellet directly into the breech. This is helpful because it gets the flat-headed wadcutter pellet past the barrel o-ring. But every time I tipped the barrel downward to load the pellet, the retracted bolt handle slid forward partially closing under it's own weight. And yes, while a spot of thick grease on the bolt will solve the problem of the bol ..read more

Just making a quick grip/hand interface modification.
When I added that palm shelf, I didn't account for how it would slightly alter my finger placement.
As the shelf pushes my hand upwards into the grip, my pinky and ring finger get pinched by the finger grooves.
Back to the sanding drum to move the bottom two finger grooves upward.
Attach the palm rest..
And try this again.
Sand, test, sand, test...
A little spot sanding
Just like that, the ..read more

Finishing up the CP1-M.
Reader, Paul, identified the muzzle brake as an Air Arms accessory used on several models in their lineup. Thanks for that, I'd done a quick look under "airgun muzzle brake" but hadn't really looked any further.
Thought the pistol looked like a bit haphazard. Body parts sewn together into Frankenstein's monster. A bit over-dramatic, but truthfully the aesthetics matter and I'd like to have some sense of pride of ownership.
I mean, that silver muzzle brake looks a bit lonely and out of place. Maybe a bit more silver color will make it ..read more

I found this shiny muzzle brake in a box of stuff for sale at the Toys that Shoot airgun show last year. I had no real plan for it at the time, but it was only $10.
I did like the undercut on the bottom, and I thought the machining was pretty clean for the price.
Surely, I had something that this 14mm diameter would fit. See the justifying? Brought it home and put it in a larger box of stuff with other shiny things where it sat waiting.
Some of my airgun p ..read more

I've tried to sit down and write this several times now but the words aren't coming. The Flag City Show organizer, Dan Lerma, passed away a few weeks before the show on March 28, 2023.
More info here
Dan, the show went on as you had hoped. It was a beautiful sunny day and the aisles were packed with all the friends that you made over the 17 years putting on the Toys that Shoot Show. Thank you so much for bringing us all together and for having the vision, courage and dedication to make something like this happen so many times. Rest in peace ..read more

I'm off the back for blog posts. Time to check in, proof of life or something like that. Here's what's been going on. I've occasionally mentioned my carpal tunnel and my difficulties handling those small .177 pellets. The hand numbness and loss of both dexterity and hand strength finally got bad enough that some outpatient surgery was necessary. Hopefully those .177 match guns will get used more often now.
Aside from that, Kath and I found ourselves in West Virginia for a week of hiking and generally just hanging out at a cabin near the Lost River ..read more

Sill playing around with those adjustable weights.
Here's a few more pics of prototype 1.0
This base slides into an Anschutz-sized accessory rail and clamps in place.
Two M5 bolts. The clamping plate was modified from a bicycle shoe cleat insert.
What else can I come up with? Since I had extra cylindrical weights and rods to experiment with, I wondered how to attach weights to some other rifles that lacked that Anschutz rai ..read more

I don't even know where to begin. The 2022 Findlay airgun show was HUGE--both in vendor turn out as well as floor traffic. I'm just going to do a photo dump and call it a day. Click on any pic to enlarge.
