POTD – Colt Python Estate Pickup Referenced this on the podcast. On our long term to buy list was one of the reproduction Colt Pythons. And the logic is simple. For years I have searched for a shooter-grade Python to purchase.  The problem with that is even ragged out originals have gone into the stratosphere ..read more

Was in Shooters Supply (Loveland, OH) this past week on some other business. And every time I am in the shop, we always ask the owner, “You have anything I need to see?”. He pops out of his chair and pulls this out of the case. A Detonics Pocket 9 with original box and papers ..read more

It appears Wilson Combat has released an update to the EDC X9 family. A grip panel version.  But wait! Doesn’t the original EDC X9 have grip panels? Yes, it does. They are screw-less & dovetailed in the frame and require partial disassembly to remove.  The 2.0 guns, as best I can tell, are based on ..read more

Ok. Let me start off by staying that any 1911 that exhibits hammer follow is extremely dangerous. Primarily through one simple problem: What if the gun fires when you didn’t intend it to?  This can show up when loading the pistol and a possible boom. Or it can show up when firing the pistol and ..read more

Assessments:  After shooting the Tisas 1911a1, I was left with an impression that the sights are tracking left. Not low left. Just left. It shows up fairly consistently across 3-5-7-15-25 yards. Obviously at varying degrees of angle.  Hardware: The USGI 1911a1 sights, in-particular the front sight, present some challenges when compared to modern pistol sights ..read more

Second run with the Tisas USGI clone. 28 yards. USGI sights. After doing this, I have come to two conclusions. One, that rounded front sight really does suck. It doesn’t provide a sharp top of sight line for precision shots.  Second, I am having to hold this gun pretty far to the right to get ..read more
