55yo IDC/DCIS ++- Stage 3, Grade 3. Completed Lumpectomy, Chemo and Radiation, now currently on Letrozole. I've been taking Letrozole for about 6 weeks. I have Fibromyalgia which presents in me as severe muscle and joint aches. Guess what? That's also a major side effect of Letrozole. :( It is Spring in Kansas and it's been very rainy, also something that flares my Fibro, so perhaps it IS just my Fibro that is being very severe currently, but I've had several days lately with a pain level of 8. It's just not something that I can picture doing long term. I will go off the Letrozole for a week ..read more

Having Hysterectomy with Oophorectomy

No question here, just sharing for others. Diagnosed at 45 y/o grade I IDC & DCIS ++-. Lumpectomy & whole-breast radiation 2023. I'm having a hysterectomy with an oophorectomy next month. About 10 years ago I had an endometrial ablation with a double burn. Because of the scar tissue to my uterus and the risks that Tamoxifen poses to my uterus, they've recommended a hysterectomy. And because I'm now 46 years old and nearly done with my ovaries, the OB-GYN recommends the ovary removal, too. Personally, I am looking forward to having the risk of uterine & ovarian cancer eliminated fr ..read more

Weird side effect from Herceptin - am I nuts??

I have one more Herceptin/Kadcyla infusion to go before I'm done treatment and I have developed a superhuman smell. I can smell the garbage can in my house from my basement. I'm in Costco and the smell of the laundry detergent and the pierogis and they're handing out as free samples hits me like someone's simultaneously shoving my head into a laundry basket, while also being transported to somebody's babcia's kitchen. What gives? I'm in awe, but I also am wondering if maybe this is something I should bring up to my MO. I can't light a candle anymore because the smell is absolutely, unbearably ..read more

Due to OR scheduling, my DMX and expander surgeries are 10 days apart. I’m worried about having a second surgery while still recovering from the first. Has anyone had this experience, and what was your recovery like? submitted by /u/bells_and_bacon [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've had a recurrence, fortunately it's a localized tumor and hasn't metastasized. Now the surgeon wants to remove muscle to eliminate and test margins. It's on my dominant side and my work is farming, very physical. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what their mobility is like after? submitted by /u/scamajama [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Stage 4 and terrified

I just received information that my bone biopsy came back positive. I'm estrogen positive, HER2 negative, and they are still looking for the actual tumor (it's lymph node only so far), so I'll be headed for a MRI-guided biopsy. I also have a second opinion lined up. Please tell me I'm going to be okay. I have young children and right now I am terrified and devastated. submitted by /u/sterretjie [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The title is a TLDR. I am having such a hard time with this constant liquid lava diarrhea with the Verzenio. The skin on my inner cheeks have the worst chaffing/burning going on. It HURTSSSS. Has anyone found any wipe, ointment, etc. that helps with this? It's at the point that I'm avoiding sex with my (very patient and understanding) boyfriend because of it. Plus the unexpected poos at anytime, of course. Two years of this? #$*(@!!!! submitted by /u/uhh_lease [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Which Tamoxifen “Brand” Works Best for You?

Quick Background: Seeing my oncologist tomorrow to try to find a way to make tamoxifen workable after having awful, over-the-top side effects. My Rx was filled with tamoxifen manufactured by GSMS Incorporated. There is lots of anecdotal evidence AND a couple of studies that confirm switching to a different manufacturer can make a difference in tamoxifen tolerability. QUESTION: If you had bad side effects from tamoxifen and found that switching to a different drug manufacturer helped, which manufacturer did you switch to? I know everyone reacts differently to meds & formulations, but it wo ..read more

Feeling meh after meeting with oncologist

+++, stage 1B, grade 3. Met with my oncologist and I’m feeling kinda meh. I have round 5 of 6 tomorrow of TCHP so have completed 4. She measures the breast area and says it’s getting smaller but it’s hard to tell because my breast is so busy (biopsy scar tissue, two other benign masses). It’s so frustrating to not know how I am responding to chemo. She says I’m definitely responding but won’t know for sure how well until surgery, which makes sense. I guess I was hoping for a miracle that my 2 cm mass could no longer be felt. She says she feels a mass but doesn’t know if it’s the cancery one o ..read more

I am so close to being done chemo that I've finally started to look forward to life after this. I started with diagnosis in Dec. 2023 and I couldn't imagine what life would look like at this point. But I've made it, we ALL made it here today whether we can believe it or not. I am so fucking grateful I can't even express it. But now I'm wondering, I wanna get back to exercising next month. But I have no idea where to start. I am tired and lazy and fatigued right now, but I'm also a bit overweight. I want to be back to my old self, but have no idea where to start. Did you guys follow any fitnes ..read more
