So I have installed Tasmota software on a Sonoff Basic R2 ver 1.4 . I also soldered a wire to the reverse side of board to breakout GPIO2 marked Io2 . I have the DHT11 wired to source -GPIO2 +vcc and - gnd. What I would like to accomplish is to be able to have relay switch on and off with temperature rise and fall. The idea is if my temperature goes low it will turn off my fireplace fan thus eliminating the cooler air when fire box is below 90 .Similar to a furnace fan limit switch. This is a wood burning fireplace , it would not eliminate any safety devices. My setting as such in configure m ..read more

Hello, I have shower niche with tiles installed. During installation there was no provision made to have an electric connection for profile light. Now, I am looking for a possibility to have profile light on shower niche without having to make a visible electric wiring running from switch till the niche. Any suggestions how I can make that? Any option to have a wireless battery operated light which can sense the bathroom main light and glow the profile light accordingly? submitted by /u/SupermarketNo8457 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am looking for a zigbee module to which I can connect a reed switch, something like this: https://preview.redd.it/6bd9m24apiqc1.png?width=689&format=png&auto=webp&s=daa0fd770c79f211364fb8bd5559b757345dbb5d So I probably need a module that would read whether the circuit is open or closed. Thanks! submitted by /u/mmwwll [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Replacing "dumb switches" around my home with Hue smart buttons?
Reddit » Home Automation

Hey all, I bought a couple of ceiling-mounted smart lights from a certain manufacturer. To my dismay, I found out that they don't play well with "dumb switches" because of their power-on behavior-- ie. let's say I say "Alexa turn the lights off" when the switch is still on. The lights will turn off, and they will stay off even if I flip the switch off/on again. The first thing I tried was buying a couple of Kasa smart switches, idea being that I can create some sort of Alexa routine that says "when I turn on the smart switch, turn on the light". That didn't work unfortunately because the Kasa ..read more

Using my PC volume control to adjust Sonos Ray volume using IR blaster

Hi All, I'm unsure where exactly to ask this but I've seen other similar posts in here that don't answer my question. Does anyone know if I can plug in an IR blaster (like a broadlink RM Blackbean or something dummer if it exists) and somehow translate the volume up and down commands on my PC into a IR signal to control a Sonos Ray? The Ray will be connected to the PC by digital optical cable so the volume control won't do anything on its own. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks! submitted by /u/dhc2beaver [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I like to sleep in the cold so i put it on the schedule to lower the temperature to 20 degrees at 9pm, now, the problem is that if the thermostat is not in “Cool” mode it wont activate that schedule, so I have to manually change it to COOL Mode, which at night before going to sleep is not a problem because im awake, but I want it to AUTOMATICALLY start heating up to 23 degrees at 6:30 am, and IT WONT DO IT because during the night is set in Cool Mode, and in order to activate the HEATING SCHEDULE it needs to be in HEAT MODE!! unless I manually change from cool mode to heat mode it won't activ ..read more

I need a portable preferably small lock/latch that I can unlock/unlatch with a remote controller. So far I've searched up "remote controlled lock" "remote controlled latch" "remote controlled release mechanism" "remote controlled magnet" "remote controlled release mechanism" and still have not found anything I even took a look at some Lego kits. I thought it was a very simple and achievable idea but I am simply not finding any products that can do this for me please help. submitted by /u/Tibhen [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Smart deadbolt suggestion for an outside gate?
Reddit » Home Automation

Recent homebuyer, looking to buy a smart lock for the gate in the front of my home (the gate is the main point of entry to the property). The gate is similar to this one with holes for a deadbolt and knob. The current setup is a regular deadbolt with both sides being keyed. From the research I've done, I could not find a smart lock that isn't one where you can't just reach your hand through the gate and unlock it, so it seems the next best thing is a smart deadbolt placed inside a regular double-keyed lock. Does anyone have any suggestions on smart deadbolts? Connectivity compatibility is not ..read more

I have a i5 macbook pro from 2015. Monitor is burnt at this point and hard drive is rapidly failing. I also have a synology NAS with some TB of SSD that I've used for local plex. I am looking to augment my NAS to enable transcoding and potentially setting up a scrypted server. Any clues how should I start? Will the MacBook failing SSD be an issue? is i5 good enough? Should I setup my mac as a Linux box? submitted by /u/papanton [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
